When in 2006 I created this Hyperadobe technique, here at my Permaculture Institute, in Brazil where I live, I didn't know that in a few years it would become a world fever. Your work is very good, in addition to the good mood of the whole family that teaches us all the true meaning of sharing and working together. Congratulations, you guys are great!

Thank you sir, and thanks so much for creating this technique! We have so many plans for ways to use these bags here on our homestead, and are just getting started!
@opcpixie2 жыл бұрын
Sr. Contanto, yes, thank you for creating this technique with your compadres at your Brazilian Permacultue Institute. You've opened the door and paved the way for so many people and families who may have not have been able to go about building a 'traditional' homestead, or like myself (and, I believe this family, Tiny Shiny Home) who do not want a traditional, resource havocing homestead and would rather go an Earth friendly route. This enables so many people to feel empowered, accomplished, secure with a sense of pride in themselves and their home all while helping our finite planet (the last of which people seem to take for granted far too often, forgetting that we - as a human race - nor our home, that is Earth, are not indestructible or infinite.) I've been wanting to, for a few years now, go forward with seriously preparing and starting to build my own earthship domain. I've watched other videos on KZbin of people and families who document their builds but nothing near as detailed or as structurally sound as what this family has shared with us. I can only offer you, Tiny Shiny Home, my sincerest thanks as you have answered the few remaining, albeit very important, questions I've had left before I could embark on my own future home. Of which I plan on having and residing in for many years to come, so was wanting to do it very good and just right, much like yours. My heart broke when that desert wind storm put you back a few days but the fact that you kept on keeping on with smiles on your faces only attest to the beautiful spirit your family has. I too live in a dry, wind storm prone, desert climate, of which, unfortunately, has far too much sand in its dirt as well, with almost zero clay. Not sure it is even dirt at all. It may very well be all sand. So, I was curious about one thing. When you were testing the structural capabilities, hence longevity, of your cob mixture and after noticing you needed more clay, you mentioned that you found a great solution, followed by arriving with a truck bed of clay laidened dirt, what was your solution? Where were you able to find that dirt that satisfied your clay needs? Just curious. Great job BTW, loved seeing the whole family, including the pup and even Pops, helping and making it a team build. So many wonderful lessons you are able to instill in your lovely kids that they'll have for the rest of their lives. Kudos all the way around. Many blessing.

ikr, when I said I wanted to do my stables in cob 20 something yrs. ago everyone and there aunt said that's silly, there all asking for advice on there little builds lately. funny how opinions chance once they see them put into reality. do you have a website or do you upload, I'm always interested in seeing what cool new techniques ppl come up with in different countries. i'll go have a look at your KZbin feed to see if there's info there..

Indigenous cultures made homes from dirt and natural materials thousands of years ago. Nice try. Hey next time invent a way to stop flowing water by using rocks!!
@opcpixie2 жыл бұрын
@@greenwave819 While it's true many cultures in the past have built structures with materials that have included a mixture of clay rich dirt and a binding agent, such as straw/hay, the technique in which they built their homes were completely different. In more primitive times, cultures would mix their dirt, hay and water (or similar combination) then, as the technique shown is this KZbin video was actually not in existence as it hasn't been created yet, they would place that mixture into molds, often brick shape or close to that size and a shape but maybe more sides, such as a hexagon, and they would have to wait days for the dirt mixture to completely dry. They would have to repeat this process many times,. Hence in order to even begin the build it would take weeks and even months before they had enough of these 'bricks' formed so that by the time the build was finished they had all the necessary bricks created to finish it. This process was incredibly long, much more labor intensive and the structures created paled in comparison, in regards to time taken to prep, start and complete the build, structural stability and support and the longevity of the structure, than that of home built with the same materials yet using the cob technique shown in this video. The cob technique is one that is able to be constructed immediately, no molding of, or days drying, 'bricks' needed. It is called a 'wet build' for that specific reason. Also, because it is not built brick by brick, piece by piece, but instead as one whole, single, solid build it is akin to a monolithic structure making it much more stable and will outlast an adobe style (with a dried dirt mixture molded into bricks) structures many times over. Nobody claimed they created or came up with the idea to use clay dirt, hay and water to build a structure. Sr. Contato created this technique... that being the wet build technique, hence a monolithic technique. Which also, as a bonus, because one molds the structure as s/he builds, one gets the added option of being able to build smoother, rounded walls/surfaces. This happens to be, to some, much more aesthetically pleasing and, some might say, much more modern. Therefore giving the end result being likened and modeled much closer to styles used today's modern home construct. #TheMoreYouKnow

What a great family! I loved it! I’m a contractor and I’ve been doing residential construction and remodeling for 24 years and I was AMAZED at how great of a job they did. They worked together perfectly and no matter the task they pushed forward. They all worked extremely hard on this but I was immensely impressed by the wife and her work ethic. The husbands attitude was exactly what was needed for a project like this (some guys tend to take over and are too aggressive). I was impressed by the children and how invested they were through the whole project! Well done guys! You’re an inspiration to many and your hard work was amazing to watch 😁

I fell asleep watching stuff on KZbin and was awakened by some of the great sound track you put together for your documentary around six this morning, and couldn't stop watching. Incredible amount of work and supportive wife and kids. Very blessed family, totally blown away. Great job!

that looks way too nice to be called a "shed". That's a masterpiece.

That was my thought too....shed? It's too beautiful to be an office or shed! Add on and call it your home!

You guys are awesome!! So talented. I love how you both work so well together and equally hard. She actually uses those power tools on her own. That's amazing! I don't even know how to turn them on. LOL The whole family works hard, and i love how your cute shed/office is coming along. Can't wait to see how the house is going to look if the shed looks this great! Blessing to you all.

Showed up at random in my feed. Have to say, this was an amazingly beautiful journey and I'm really happy you've shared it with the world. What you accomplished is fantastic but the bond with the family and with the beginnings of your home is awe inspiring. Thank you! 💖💖

🎉👏👏👏👏👏🎉 That was a whole lot of fun! You did a tremendous job with the movie. It really was neat to see the entire build, again. Seeing it like this really made it sink in on just how much work it was to build it. Like others, should have checked the comments before watching, so I could count the dino sightings 😏 Good luck to whoever wins. Thank you Tiny Shiny family! ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️

Watched this last night on the tv just like I would watch a movie. The family rocks. You learned and accomplished putting all your thoughts into reality. The video was a masterpiece and presented just how much work and thought went into the project along with a little fun. Thank you for sharing and we are looking forward to what you dream of next.

New subscriber here, y'all popped up on my feed today and although I had to stop a few times to feed animals and whatnot, I made it through that incredible video. WELL DONE you guys! Your kids are incredibly hard workers, your dog hysterically funny, your cats wonderfully curious and you guys are AWESOME parents. You are giving these children a solid foundation that will see them through the rest of their lives and though they may not appreciate that now, there will come a time when they will be very grateful for it. I was a tad homesick while watching this, as I grew up in high desert environment that was very much like what you are in. Born in Fort Huachuca, raised in Elgin and spent most of my adult life in Sierra Vista. I miss my Huachuca Mountains with the thunder rolling down through those foothills. Cochise county is nothing short of magical during the monsoons. I am still in Arizona, but in the northwestern region. Not safe for a single woman farmer so close to the border these days. Thanks for sharing all your ideas and hard work, I truly enjoyed it and look forward to watching your other videos to catch up on your mighty adventure!

@@brittfox775 yeah, I don't know what you are watching. The children didn't seem forced at all. They knew they had to contribute, which they did wholeheartedly & without hesitation. Homesteading is not for the indolent. Chances are you wouldn't survive on a homestead. But as for me, I'm inspired and happy to see them thrive. Merry Christmas!
