That's literally the whole point of shows like family guy. One week they can be gangsters, the next week they can be addicted to drugs, then they can murder someone, etc. If they had to maintain continuity they wouldn't be able to do wacky things. Family Guy sucks now but even when it was good it didn't have week-by-week continuity. That would be insane for a show like FG.

I liked how in series like family guy he re-introduced us that somewhat forgotten concept where a person with a little evil or some defect (just like in american dad with francine who despite his defects is someone at least decent) can be better person than a monster/psychopath/sociopath like lois or peter, it's more alana looks calm in prison with those rehabilitation programs reminded me a bit of the classic lois that lois before she evolved to evil
