Quagmire's remarks about Brian's "textbook liberal agenda" are spot on. I have friends and family who are liberal, and they like to advertise this on Facebook. Every time they pipe up about how we allegedly don't do enough to help the poor and homeless I am tempted to ask them exactly what Quagmire asked Brian--exactly what do YOU do to help? But I don't ask this for two reasons. One, I don't want to start a fight. Two, I already know the answer. They don't do ANYTHING to help out other than give lip service to proposed public policies that redistribute wealth.

Seth Macfarlane didn't write this episode. He rarely writes them anymore. It's no secret that Brian is supposed to link up with Macfarlane, but do you honestly think that Macfarlane has self hatred and guilt? He's participated in numerous charitable functions over the years. I'm not particularly a big fan of his or his show Family Guy, but you're taking the easy way out when saying this is Macfarlane's "self-hatred and guilt." It's satire, nothing more. It's his fellow writers poking fun at him, nothing more. Don't read into things that aren't there

Fans of this show should know, Seth himself has said in interviews, he relates to Brian the most of all his characters. Seth did put a bit of himself in Brian (his liberal views, rational mind, love for knowledge, and frustration with most modern young women being idiots and party sluts). So for Seth to make a Episode like this shows, the level of maturity and humor he took with his own personality traits that can be negative at times. For instances being smart is great, but being pompous about it, makes you unworthy of any respect. Same goes with having a passion for a political/social ideology, it's fine to have one, but even if it is logical and truthful, being a stuck up about it, just makes people hate you and your ideology, even if it's rooted in logic. And honestly I believe one of the reasons some fans are taking this scene so personal is because they are guilty of these things Quagmire has told to Brian.

SoniaSephia Bingo !. You are absolutely correct that most of the people who take this scene personal do so because it hits to close to home for them. Quagmire does'nt dislike Brian for being a liberal but for being a pompous ass about it and mostly saying the politically correct things but rarely following up with action. People also seem to forget that this whole rant was the result of Brian in his arrogance not understanding why someone might dislike him.

It's not like he attacked Brian. Brian kept asking and asking until Quagmire went off. Quagmire's biggest issue with Brian seems to be his attitude about his actions, as if he can do no wrong and admit no faults. Yes Quagmire has faults, but as he said; "At least I'm honest about it" (his faults). Quagmire wasn't judging Brian, he was giving him his opinion of him. Which is what happens when you badger someone who doesn't like you to tell you their opinion of you.

I like both of them. But sometimes both of them are hypocrites. Mostly Quagmire, why, he's a thirsty predator. in the episode that premiered before this one, Quagmire put his daughter for adoption, which is cowardly. And I hate how Quagmire hits on Lois, especially in the episode " Big Man on Hippocampus" when Peter lost his memory, and Quagmire tried to hit on Lois. And in the episode "Meg and Quagmire, he tried to have sex with Meg, which really annoys me. But Quagmire was right about Brian. Brian always tries to be someone he's not just to impress other people. Like in the episode, " The Blind Side" where he dated a blind girl, And when he found out she hates dogs, he took advantage of her so much. And I hate how Brian always tries to flirt with girls. But Brian's failure as a father shouldn't ever be mentioned by a thirsty sex predator who put his daughter up for adoption. So yeah Quagmire was right, but Quagmire is also a bore, sometimes .

The only person who is even remotely close to being a saint is bonnie to literally go through everything with joe and then to have homicidal thoughts and thoughts about cheating and not go through with them even though you husband cannot satisfy you is saying soomething to lose a child raise and daughter take care of a cheating crippled husband just to find out your son didnt die and just went AWOL is a lot of stress and she doesnt even complain that much meanwhile joe complains and he even left her once he got his legs back she has it harder then anyone in the series yet she is still so quite and level headed but aye thats just myopinions either wayits a fucked up show with fucked up hypnotizing situation
