I went to UofA and took a jazz appreciation class one semester. Every week we had to do either one or two live jazz reviews. This was not as difficult as it sounded because there was always some kind of live jazz show going on there. I think I remember being told by our professor that the city at that time had the nation’s largest jazz society, beating out even New Orleans. I pretty much hated being a student there, but when I stepped away from campus life, parts of Tucson felt pretty cultured. Some incredible restaurants, a pretty good music scene, and a few bookstores that I loved. Beautiful town too. Of course, there were other parts that felt like the land time had forgotten. The Simpsons also used to poke fun at the town (Matt Groening graduated from UofA). Again, couldn’t stand being a student there, but I’ve never really understood why the town itself has been the butt of so many jokes.

In Phoenix, the attitude of drivers is "I can go 20+ over the speed limit as long as I loosely follow all of the other rules" and in Tucson it's "I can run stop signs and red lights as long as I go as slowwwww as possible." There's literally a place on Valencia where jaywalkers lose car dodgeball all the time and get hit frequently. Gotta get that Eegees I guess.

beowulf916 why is that your original comment is not considered an insult but mine is? You offered a criticism on a joke written by some writer on family guy. I am asserting that your bitter retort is stemming from the high probability that you are from Tucson, and I wouldn’t want your battleship viewing tonight to be tainted by the comment

@@Johnny-cz2wv I mean, the jokes being racist/sexist/whatever else is the whole point. They are deliberately offensive. And by virtue of being deliberately offensive it's hard to actually be offended because that's the point of the joke.
