Family library Missing in Revit? - Solution Tutorial

Thanks once more about your great videos, actually you are an inspiration for me personally since I failed my first CAAD class (where we learn Revit). after I started watching your videos I passed my caad 1 and caad 2 lectures with grade 2 and 1 ( 1 is highest) and now I can consider myself at teaching level thanks to you. One plus information about your video by the way, for everyone, I would suggest using Germany library for wider variations of family components especially the furniture. i tried out couple of different country libraries and so far the biggest furniture library is Germany.

Nice tutorial. In order to setup default library path go to - File/Options/File locations/Places - C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2020\Libraries\US Metric

For those who gets the error msg at the end of the installation, click right mouse button on the downloaded .exe file then select 'Run as administrator' then should be OK.

The Library may well have been installed but what seems that due to a bug in Revit it is unable to locate it immediately. As others elsewhere have complained, even after downloading a library from Autodesk it fails to show up! So in order not to burden your system with yet another 1.2gb of library files and avoid further frustration here is what you do. Open Revit Architectural Template, click on Insert then click on Load Family that opens a dialogue box (where you get 'This folder is empty') just click on Preview at the top right of the dialogue box which will open for you your country chosen Library version. From there on scroll down to Mass, click on it to open the many masses available. Now click on Dom or any other of the mass primitive. That is it all done!!

Thanks. I did this, but revit was still not finding them because Revit was apparently looking in the wrong folder. Once I fixed this, I could see all the content. Also, there is a link in revit for the library of family files download, at the Insert tab, get autodesk content. You will see the family files and you can download them.

@@Glaziya You can set the file locations in Revit. It's been 3 months so I don't remember exactly how I did that. The problem is that you have to look over and understand the file structure of Revit, which can be a bit confounding.
