Family Life at Fish Camp on the Yukon River - Summer 2018 - Stan Zuray

Salmon and other species of fish here migrate well over 1000 miles each summer to spawn. The Yukon River once had numerous fish camps that ran from the mouth to well into Canada full of families cutting a winters supply of fish for countless generations. Elders can still remember those days. While modern commercial overfishing and wild salmon food competition from huge hatchery operations have severely hurt some of these runs and the people and camps that relied on them, a significant number of families still raise their kids this way. I liked doing the show but was always disappointed how we were portrayed as complaining worriers sometimes by leaving out certain words or words from another situation. We actually just take things as they come often. Yes things are dangerous but so aren't the highways near the cities. Don't worry all the time anyway.

OMG smoked salmon is so good! Especially when brown sugar and terriyaki and well done almost to point of a jerky then smoked fish, omg it's so good! U can live on it every day if need to to survive the winter it's so tasty you wouldn't get sick of it some smoked salmon and bit of deer caribou moose goat bear, just about any type of red meat like those and salmon everyday is not only aaamazingly delicious but it's most PERFECT healthy diet a human being could live on.
