I love the toy check out system! We had a toy room play area with a 7 Day Bin system. We had free play items always available (costumes, blocks/building, kitchen set, work bench, crafts) and then bins labeled with each day of the week. It worked great....they were not overwhelmed when it came time for clean up.

I love how you have made your home kid friendly. The industrial, contemporary rustic look is well blended in your home. Your coat and backpack space for each child says you are important and here is your entry/exit space, perfect. The shower curtain around the main bathroom looks nice and is functional, Smart fix! The eleven foot island is perfect for all the kids and a respite child to gather around for meals or even a family meeting. Texas has much to offer families. Do your due diligence. The property taxes and sales taxes are horrendous, they offset the lack of income taxes. The Dallas area is seeing a 50% increase in property taxes, ouch!
@TheConnleyClan

Thank you Kenyon! Nebraska taxes are some of the worst in the country, especially in the area we live in. In Texas we will get the Ag exemption which helps! Man, poor Dallas!

Thanks for the house tour. 1. I think you should keep the stairs woods, especially if you’re going to rent it out. Much easier to keep clean that way. 2. Get rid of that 2nd dryer and put it in the garage. Then hang some lines so you can air dry your clothes.
@TheConnleyClan
@TheConnleyClan 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would definitely be easier to clean with wood stairs, good thinking! Ah, I remember when my mom used to air dry our clothes when I was a kid. I may have to give that a try to get used to a more self sufficient lifestyle!
@alicetheegreet
@alicetheegreet 2 жыл бұрын
I air dry my clothes as much as possible. I really missed living in this building that had a sink where the water from the washer would empty into. I’d use that water to mop the floors at least every weekend. But I’d wash them a few times per week. My house always smelled like spring time! 🦋 🌺 🦢🌸 🐦 🌸 I love the wood wall, by the way. Very pretty. By the way, have you looked into building Earthship house? I know just renovating what’s on the property seems attractive but it might be a good alternative to look into.

Why not get rid of the kennel for the dogs and let them roam free ? I’m not trying to tell you what to do but I always hate to see dogs in kennels just my personal opinion no judgment at all just a suggestion to free up room and put your bed paint first and then you can have access to both sides of the bed and then put the dogs new bed on the back wall in the corner so your not bombarded by seeing dog kennel! I’m sure you deserve a beautiful bedroom to retreat to taking care of all the kids and that should be your sanctuary! Oh and for gosh sakes take the printer out of your bedroom for your sanity and put in the laundry room or in the son’s room with his own room like in the closet! You have a wonderful home and family I’m just trying to look out for you because I know us as parents always think of ourselves last but you need your best self to continue what good your doing!!!❤

I love how realistic your video is! Other videos I’ve watched are just so fake. I live in the suburbs of Portland Oregon, it’s very expensive to live here so me and my family live in one big house together. All together it’s 13 people here. I really think families doing this is going to be the new norm with how expensive housing has become. I’m a teacher, unless I move to a ghetto trash area it would be difficult for me to get by on my own.

Your house is super nice and huge! if you ever sell it, you'll definitely make more than you spend on it. We have a house in Kansas and it's pretty small and cozy. We didn't want a big house because it's a lot of work to clean but at least you have lot of helpers ♥ We were going to move to Texas because it's where I am from. It is just hard to when Kansas has affordable housing. If you ever come to Kansas, check out the small towns. especially if you and your family like living somewhere with a lot of greenery. lots to do! My favorite ones are in Ottawa and Bonner Springs. One thing I love about Kansas is the grass doesn't turn brown as Texas does =/ Well, I rambled on. Have a great weekend.

@TheConnleyClan
@TheConnleyClan 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Valerie! I believe you have to have two ways out for it to be considered a "true" bedroom. In the basement we have one bedroom and then two non-conforming rooms. We had talked about adding the egress in all rooms, just hadn't got to that point yet.
@kenyonbissett3512
@kenyonbissett3512 2 жыл бұрын
For the two non conforming rooms consider keeping a wool blanket for each child; fire proof/resistant clothes in a space bag under their beds; and (2) 2 liter bottles of water. Next, work with them doing a fire drill. Hear fire alarm (use phone with alarm sound for practice), roll out of bed, test door knob safety, if not hot precede outside. If hot or open door shows flames blocking the door; return to room put on fire resistant clothes, pour water on wool blankets, put blankets over their heads and breathe thru wool or cotton. Breathing Masks would be better if you can afford. Sounds expensive, but throw your needs out into the universe, pray, keep an eye out, it will come to you. You should time the kids and get them to beat their own times. The process should become second nature to them so in an emergency they “just do it.” Also keep a walkie talkie or cellphone in there room for emergency communication. Practice using walkie talkie. Consider small kitchen sized fire extinguishers in their room also with training. For practice, you can ask businesses or freecycle or church members for expired tanks. You can have a small fire outside and they can practice putting out the fire. It’s easy but you can pinch yourself so practice yourself first to be able to show them. I used the 4 available fire extinguishers at the nursing home. It did NOT put out the fire but it held the fire back, saving dozens of Veterans in the nursing home from burns, smoke inhalation and death. I sound over protective, but I was first responder as a RN in a nursing home fire 🔥. I promise you will not regret time spent doing this. My training stopped a disaster. Because of the practice and training, I was able to act automatically and quickly when it happened. I am not a hero, just well trained to act automatically. ~ Lisa Bissett, Retired RN
