This is one of the most functional designs I've seen. None of the ridiculous furniture items you have to build any time you want to use it. Full size sinks, tub, bed, counter space. The kids have their own actual room instead of a weird curtained off area that will be outgrown within a year. This is all great. By the time you outgrow this thing, you'll already be on to the next adventure.
@peardarling6 жыл бұрын
Exactly our thought. We wanted something we could grow into and this is working out really well.
@aplicqu87616 жыл бұрын
I know you love that counter space and don't mind the landromats for now, but I would've gone with the full sized washer dryer and get that better dishwsher since you know it saves water, and upgrade to the 50 gal tank... You might see that laundromat visit as a vacation now, but having to hunt one down every area you go to might start wearing thin. You've got kids who are only going to grow larger and dirty more, larger clothes, meaning your W/D combo will be even less effective. With the small W/D gone you can have lower shelving where you have none and small storage bins. The trade off is worth it if you look at the long haul. If you're home schooling those boys, you are going to have far less freedom four or five days a week. With those two hours, you can go on an instructive nature hike, rather than have to devote time to finding and doing laundry elsewhere. You're an incredible planner with great foresight. You also did not say you had solar panels or batteries. Do you?

@@krissybakes22 It doesn't look great but it's better than almost every other tiny house second bedroom I've seen. At least they're doing a real room with space for the kids to actually have stuff.

My favorite is definitely the boys’ room. So many tiny houses owners didn’t think much about their kids - thinking that it’s totally okay having a curtain covering their sleeping areas and all. But kids grow up and eventually they want their own spaces where their parents won’t “see” them. And if families want to keep doing this for a long time, they should put a lot of thoughts into their kids rather than just the tiny houses themselves. I love your tiny house because it’s the real definition of tiny house. Still have that “home” feels but just smaller ❤️
@jamesfv13 жыл бұрын
This is why instead of a bigger tiny home, I’m saving for two small tiny homes for my tween and I. That way he already has a ‘home’ and so so I. I think it’s smarter with tweens and teens. Plus it helps their future, win; win.

He let us park on his property in Durango and is an amazing friend. I was just pointing out that we have driven on extremely rough roads and the only thing that took out those dishes was human error. I have fiesta ware too & love it. I know I'd make sure if a friend broke a piece of mine they'd hear about it for years, they're my plate babies. Best part is it's tough as nails & hard to break and would be perfect for a tiny house that moves around a lot.

I enjoyed it a lot, and think your home is amazing. Every single detail on the house looks like a ton of thought went into it. Hey you stole that from me. KZbin people talk too slow.
@JacquelineUnderwood5 жыл бұрын
Krane people in video talk slower because it’s better to talk slower and be understood than talk faster and not be. It’s taught in film school. I usually increase the speed too, but it is necessary to have people talk slower. It also allows people reading captions to finish reading the caption and still be with the video.
@krane155 жыл бұрын
@@JacquelineUnderwood Incorrect. The people in video that talk slow do so because they are untrained and don't know any better. If the did, they'd know that slow take would put their audience to sleep. On the other hand, professionally trained broadcasters speak concisely, succinctly, and clearly. Broadcaster and newscaster are anything but slow speakers (although the evening disc jockey may be a bit more laid back than his morning counterpart) because they know that would bore audiences and they'd quickly lose interest in what they are saying. In America, the use general English, so as to avoid accents.

I love that she was so open about what worked and what didn't. This was a great design. I have the same washer dryer combo and I have the same complaint. For a large family, it doesn't dry well. I ended up having to get a regular dryer. I also was so stoked that they made a lot of allowances because of their children. They are afraid of showers, so they have a tub. They may not be safe on the ladder so they get the gooseneck which has quite a bit of space. So many of these tiny houses seem like the kids were an afterthought. The parents have a nice bedroom and the kids are squeezed up into a loft they can't stand up in. So this was a refreshing change.

This home is magnificent and really lacks nothing as far as I can tell - I’d love to build out a tiny home but all of the builds I’ve seen always feel like they’re missing something or they’re cramped or lacking in storage space to live comfortably. This is so well thought out and is just beautiful and seems super functional. And bless this woman for her extremely thorough and detail oriented walk through of her place. All of the details she noted are so helpful to be aware of!

This was a captivating tour. I am in the very early stages of planning my tiny home or RV. You were so informative and well, just cool. Anyway I think you would kill it if you had a YT channel with your family. I do get it that people enjoy privacy and make it a priority with their kids. That is my 2 cents though, you are perfect for KZbin=) Big thumbs up!

"I'm a master gardener"....what a strange flex lol What is a master gardener? I've never heard that before
@UncleDutchFarms4 жыл бұрын
It's a gardening program that's run by local extension offices (I believe) and it's basically an advanced garden training program so yes, "Master Gardener" is an actual title you can earn.

Yes the vented ones works so much better you're not retaining the moisture inside and trying to continuously dry... I have a friend who has one in an RV and she said the difference between the non-vented and the vented is significant
@peardarling6 жыл бұрын
Definitely thinking we want to switch it out for vented. Thanks for the recommendation.

This is the first tiny house I’ve seen that I wouldn’t mind living in. It’s also the first one I’ve seen that feels like the owners put a lot of time and energy into researching every aspect of it. I hate the idea of disassembling furniture to make another piece of furniture for something else, and that’s another reason I like this home.

WOW....you have given us so much to think about. We are in our late 50's with retirement around the corner....I have a 2 story, 1900's home that I swore I was going to die in...lol...but with all the space to keep up i just may before i want to....lol...we love to travel & used to do RVing when our boys were little. Over the last few years we have followed tiny house living & are really falling in love with the idea of less space for upkeep & being alot more financially free. We do have grandkids so of course that will need be considered for sleep overs. Like your place I want a full size frig or comparable, oven, burners, & dishwasher. Im not big on the composting toilet, but could deal with a RV style toilet. Definitely want a tub/shower combo. And unfortunately I can no longer do ladders (disability: knees & back)...so would need sturdy, stairs with handles. You were very informative thank you so so much!!! The teacher in you definitely shinned through. :)

One of the best tiny home videos Ive ever watched, if not the best. Shes really honest about things, and gives you a ton of info. Its really nice. I love this set up. Its perfect with kids, and they can grow into it. Thats always a question I have, can they grow with it, will they still be able to have it as the kids get older. And with this one, you totally can. If i was going to go with a design, that I was able to travel with, I would use this as a reference in my build. I love it. It would fit with myself, and my younger son. I love the outside of it too, the whole feel inside. Gorgeous!

I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't think how that would work. But I was thinking you could the every piece of clothing with a number and make a photo catalog in your phone. That way you can scroll through your closet catalog on your phone, pick out the number, and simply pick it out. What do you think? Btw, this video is amazing! You're a beautiful, intelligent, and lively mother...another that I now envy. You and your husband did an incredible job designing your tiny home! I was just curious if your sons have autism or adhd. I picked up you saying they have some sensory challenges and are very active. It sounds like my son. You seem to be able to keep up with them, though. That's something I'm still struggling with. Anyway, great job and happy adventures!
