“Every hour is the darkest time of the day”. That is haunting. You can see he really means it.

The emotion and tears tells me you do Love your family, please be easy on yourself, ask Jesus to heal the pain and anguish that you feel. I have never lost a family member to a murderer with a gun, instead I carried one working in law enforcement. My kids were allowed to grow up and have their children so I have no idea of the hurt, But, I do know one thing, I see your love for your family, do not ever apologize for the tears!! God Bless you and your family!! as for the murderer he is getting what he deserves, life in prison with no chance for parole!!

I grow up in this community. Through the 70's. My Grandfather went to Oxford high in the 40's. This community (up to this point) has not changed much. They were just not prepared, and there was no reason to be. I was thinking about Justin's fathers comment. He wants "an eye for an eye." It reminded me of a case from Oakland County back in the early 90's. Two grown men raped and murdered 2 little girls, both 12 years old. The father in that case went out into that marble hall way at the Oakland County circuit Court building and said, "I am not a rich man, but if someone in the Michigan department of correction gives me justice, I will take care of you for the rest of my life." I would have done the same thing if one of these were my children. But then again, this guy will never enjoy a steak dinner, will never be alone, yet constantly lonely. The one thing I could not imagine, he will NEVER know the comfort of a woman. The whispers and quiet moments with my Wife? Absolutely priceless. So, what is justice?

As a cousin of Maureen, Braylon,Mia and Charlie, I ache for all of you. I never met Tate, but see the devastating pain in Tate’s cousins and family. I’m praying daily for peace for your family.

Whats hardest was hearing from one of the survivors, that went to the middle school earlier in the day with Tate, and conducted an anti-bullying program there, helping other kids.... absolutely heartbreaking.

Forgiveness is a very complex concept. I’m not sure that I could ever forgive the shooter. People say they need to forgive in order to move on and I’m sure it’s impossible for us to truly understand without having gone through something like this.

I know how if it feels to lose someone close and feel your pain. I lost my dad, sister, and brother back to back, but they were sick. Your son was murder it's not fair he died so young.

None of us are saying it's all fine. I'm just as heartbroken listening to this as you are. I knows something needs to be done but collectively punishing gun owners for the actions of someone most of us would have shot isn't the answer. The shooter had serious mental health issues that went unreported. If the US had a competent mental healthcare system this never would have happened.
