Yes, you are correct, since there currently is no cure at this time, but I know someone who has lived over 8 years with metastatic breast cancer and watched her children grow up. She is still fighting this terrible disease and maybe there will be a cure some day. Every year she makes it through is one more year she spent with her loving family.

If she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, it means it has become metastatic and will continue to spread, but it is treatable. At least with treatment she could have 3 or more years with her children and maybe, by that time, there will be a cure. When you have a loving family, time is a blessing. In fact, although it's uncommon, I know a woman with metastatic breast cancer who was diagnosed 8 years ago and still gets up every morning and has breakfast with her loving & supportive husband before he leaves for work.
