Loved this show. All the actors were great....BUT Michael J. Fox carried the show. He is an phenomenal actor it breaks my heart to see him in his condition now!

The fictional Alex P. Keaton was an attempt by the show's liberal producers to ridicule conservatives. He was chauvinistic, pompous, and worshiped money. (But ironically was atheist) While his parents were 60's hippy liberals. The producer's plan backfired in the long run, as Alex P. Keaton went on to become one of TV Guide's 50 Greatest television characters of all time. While the careers of Meredith Baxter and Michael Gross went nowhere.

@@Horus175 Okay, maybe he was more successful than I thought. What really stood out to me was that he violently decked Alex's obnoxious teacher Mr. Tedesco for talking smutty about his wife Elyse - then later hypocritically condemns son Andy for using violence in day care. And when Andy used violence, he did it to defend the honor of a disabled person. Therefore, Andy had more justification to use violence in his situation than daddy Steven had in his. I always hated that classical liberal "wisdom" of "violence is never justified, not even to stand up for yourself" bullcrap from 80's family sitcoms.
