Welcome to Bangkok! We spent several days in this stunning city and saw it from different angles - modern architecture, authentic buildings, tourist routes and ordinary everyday life. Here's a checklist for a family weekend in Bangkok.
It is better to rent a hotel room in the center, close to public transport stops. You can travel around the city by taxi, and even by motorcycle taxi, but Bangkok has terrible traffic jams, so the metro is the most reliable transport. And buses are the cheapest way to travel. And don't forget about the boats! The boat ticket is inexpensive, and a trip along the river will give you beautiful views of the city and freshness on a hot day.
Many hotels in Bangkok have a rooftop pool. Relaxing by the pool overlooking the metropolis is an amazing experience (and a great reason to post new photos on social networks). In Thailand you will always find something to eat. Every street has inexpensive cafes and street food stalls. In a pinch, you can buy hot sandwiches and coffee at 7/11.
A must-have to visit is the Phtum Wan area with the Siam Paragon and Central World shopping centers, where fashionable clothes from luxury and mass market brands are sold. In a separate building there is a two-story Apple brand store with the latest models of iPhones, MacBooks, Apple watches and accessories. Vibrant festivals are constantly taking place near the shops. The Skytrain lines make you feel like you're in a cyberpunk future.
Of the typical attractions, we adore Wat Pho - a temple complex in the very center of the city with a huge golden statue of a reclining Buddha. There is even a massage temple on the premises of Wat Pho!
