I can't wait until your unit study comes out. I have also looked at MBTP. I feel the exact same way about how overwhelming the text looks. So we haven't tried it. We also use BYL.

No official dates for release yet, but I'm hoping VERY soon! This will be my first time using BYL, but I think it's going to suit us really well. I'm a huge fan of Emily's book choices and having this resource is going to save me SO much time.

I’m in a similar boat in that I will have a first grader and a 5th and 6th grader as well. It’s always been easy to combine my two oldest, but I’m finding that I don’t just want my youngest one to “be along for the ride” anymore. I purchased several MBP unit studies for us to use as a family this year but I’m starting to feel like she needs her thing. I also work from home part time, plus I feel like I just kind of burn out at the end of the day, so I’m trying to think of a sustainable way to do it all. 😅 We have the Level 0 BYL curriculum but I didn’t realize there was a unit for older children as well. I think I might look into that in the future. Thank you for sharing and for all you do! ❤

It’s a lot to juggle for sure. I’m still hoping I can figure out a better way to manage all the things. It’s a lot. I think BYL level 7 might work for you. There are a few books that you may need to switch out as they are for older children, but Emily made a great booklist and is super helpful. One of my kids is sensitive and she was happy to let me know the books I might need to swap out for him.

I would be very interested to see what books you used for the Cold War unit study. We have started very early planning on a trip to the space coast and Cuba.

Fallout by Steve Sheinkin (not sure I spelled that correctly) has been our primary book. It’s non-fiction, but very fast paced. The kids have also enjoyed A Night Divided by Susan A Neilson. Samuel has been reading a lot about the Korean War and the Vietnam War. They have also been reading a lot of things about spies and spy craft.

@@TicketToLearning can’t half tell I was exhausted when I asked that question 🤦🏻♀️ we drove 11 hours yesterday…..I got my Cold War and Cuban missile crisis mixed up.

@@janetwest9308 the Cuban Missile crisis was a very important piece of the Cold War so it's relevant for sure. We are just getting to that part in our unit. The Bay of Pigs was just a disaster, we're picking up right after that on Monday.
