There is nothing worse than a child being turned away from their parent whenever they need help with something. If the child needs your undivided attention so you can help them out then you should be there for them by helping them out.

I remember last time my nephew spent the night here, at my parents house. In the morning, I gave him a toothbrush for kids, and toothpaste for kids. His dad had just arrived and he told him, "Daddy can you put the toothpaste on the toothbrush?" I would have helped if he would have asked me. I just did not realize he needed my help.

Yes on the sandwich part she should have made the sandwich but not some of the others stuff my niece is kinda like that she will help with stuff like making lunch for her kids but not with stuff like tooth paste she did everything for her oldest and now he can't really do anything for himself while the younger 2 can the oldest had his parents and my sister his grandmother do everything for him. So I am like 50/50 with this mom

He wasn’t talking back, he was explaining his feelings which is what kids need to do with parents. It’s also always ok to question authority so you can understand their logic. Parents choose to have kids, kids didn’t choose to be born, parents owe their kids everything, Kids owe their parents nothing! If parents can’t accept that kids are their own individuals and learn at different paces, then they shouldn’t be parents at all!

I get what the mother was doing trying to to teach her son how to be a man and he had to rely on himself, but he was still a little child who still needed help putting toothpaste on his toothbrush, tying his shoes and making a peanut butter jelly sandwich. Now should he know how to do these things, yea maybe. But some kids don’t know how to. Plus that seems like he had special so he might needed extra help. But even as he grows up to be a man he still gonna need help. I mean come on just people become doesn’t mean they won’t need help no more because they will still need it. Hell we as people will always need help no matter how old we get. Parents should always help their and kids should always help their parents
