The moral of the story is:. Never let your children suffer because of your past imperfections. It will hurt them down the road. Always let love lead the way. ♥️

Dad you are to build your son up and not tear his dreams down. Sounds like your dad didn't encourage you and you need to make sure you don't do the same to your children. Stand up and let your son know he is loved and valued and you will always be his "Biggest and Loudest Cheerleader." The best gift you could ever give him is for him to know you have faith in him as he follow his dreams!

Support your children's passions and dreams. Regardless of how things ended up for you, it doesn't mean he/she will have the same outcome. Be their biggest cheerleader, not their doubter. Great message as always! #KidzChron

I wish I knew why the dad didn’t believe in him the first place. He decides to come back after the son makes it. Oh man!! He’s so lucky the son forgave him. That’s humility. ❤ It’s still taking me years to forgive my mom for ridiculing me to want to pursue singing. It still stings in my heart when I do it in public. Never put down your child’s dream. Great story.

My mom turned 17 two days after I was born, I was born with severe hearing problems, and she gave me to her parents when I was 6 months old. My grandparents treated me like I was their daughter not a granddaughter. I was 8 when mom took me away from them, neither she nor my stepdad encouraged me to follow my career path, they didn't encourage my 3 younger brothers either, to them it was well, you're a girl, you don't need an education, you'll just get married anyway, all 3 of my brothers were excellent baseball and football players, they were told to get jobs because chances were they wouldn't make it to the pro's. I did get married and after having my kids I was able to follow my career path and I became a Funeral Director none of my brothers went to college, I've always blamed my parents for them not being able to do what they wanted with their futures because they didn't get the encouragement they needed.

If that was my mom who finally decided to come back into my life after not being around for 28 years, I would never welcome her back with open arm. So that deadbeat father better consider himself lucky his son forgave him.

Just because you didn’t get to fulfill your dreams doesn’t mean your kids won’t.like I think he was jealous because the son was fulfilling his dream but he couldn’t like never put your children’s dreams down just because yours didn’t come true.

Tell you the truth, my dad treated me the same way. He never approved of me, He never believed i was capable of anything, he made fun of me, He wouldn't always let me near him, he didn't want to spend time with me after work and when i got home from school, And most of all, he dispised me. He walked out on me when I was 12 and things got worse in my life. He came back for my highschool graduation, but he was still the same abusive monster he was to me. He never said he was proud of me and never admitted he was wrong about me. Last i heard, he went to jail a few years ago for sexually abusing a client of his. He wrote me a letter some time after his incarceration letting me know what happened. He admitted he was a lousy and terrible father and wants to make it up to me. But i don't want him to because he's tried to reconnect with a lot of times and every time he did, he'd just look at me for a minute and decide he'd rather be by himself or spend more time with my brother. I didn't need him then and i don't need him now.

You have 2 children and they need to be treated the same. No, good will come of this. You can't worship one and show differently to the other . Thankfully the ending was a good ending.

One who is truly sorry for what they have done, doesn't ask for forgiveness. They set out to prove they have changed. The father should have maybe done an interview talking about his failures as a father but talking about how proud he is of his son and then let the son decide whether or not to see him or forgive him. The dad showing up at the house was, in my opinion, tactless. But I am glad the son did choose forgiveness.
