Could the unhealthy patterns in your marriage reveal more than just your relational health?
Preston and Jackie Hill Perry-authors, speakers, and podcast hosts-discuss trauma responses, the importance of community, and the fears we all struggle with in marriage:
Fear of failing.
Fear of submitting.
Fear of being found unworthy.
They remind us that while marriage might be one of the hardest things we’ll ever do, it can also be what brings the most growth and fulfillment.

Powerful talk. Marriage is undoubtedly the hardest job I have been given in this life, however thru its sufferings has brought me and my husband closest to the Lord. Prayer and seeking God daily is a must for survival. We will celebrate 25 years soon and no way would have made it without Him. All glory to God 🙌

Praying for you, Jackie! The world so desperately needs women, black women, former members of the 1gbt+ community in ministry, but that definitely opens you up to so many more attacks. May God shield you from those arrows.

I loved hearing about the need for discipleship and being open to the unconventional ways that God will bring that about. I really loved the idea that having a partner that challenges your faith (in a good way) can and should continuously keep you on your face before the Lord. Great conversation

The most amazing commentary on marriage I have ever heard. I am one of the broken who was married to a pastor for 47 years and it blew up for the exact reasons you said. Not unfaithful ness. But exactly as you said. Jesus was not first. The church was. I was crucified because he had not been unfaithful. God showed me that Israel was not all sleeping around. The word He uses means “other gods” not just sleeping around. Thank you. Thank you for the broadcast and for your faithfulness.

Oh, this refreshed and blessed me. I love you all. I love the air of mutual, unforced respect. It's truly a beautiful thing for brethren to dwell together in unity. See how Christ unites. Look at his uniting power! People across generational gaps, people from different cultural backgrounds wholistically united under the banner of our Savior's love. Heaven will be beautiful.

For those facing divorce watching this...we've done counseling, tried therapists, pastors and jesus for myself although he professed Christianity. Our church even sent us to a Family Life conference which by the way was life changing for myself, but felt like i was there alone. Jackie spoke about marriage being the hardest thing you will ever do, leaning into your marriage..i say evaluate what exactly you're leaning into, as ladies how are you being led...because you're always being led as married women despite what you may think...if you arent being able to lean into safety and protection, and sin is more rampant than your spouse seeking the Father...your marriage may not be purposeful or designed for you to even be in...dont feel guilty. Surrender to God, he will disciple yourself and your family in His time, he will give you direction and discernment to make hard decisions to glorify your life and his name. Praying for all of us struggling and trapped in marriages that are painful.

This was a fantastic podcast and so on time because God is calling the father of my daughter and I to get married and I was just saying to myself this morning that I was going to depend upon Jesus entirely for this relationship. My yes to this marriage is a complete reflection of my faith in God because I know I can’t do it and wouldn’t have done it had He not said to do it and with the knowledge that He is faithful and will always be there for us. This podcast encouraged me to keep moving forward and have hope in the goodness, power, and faithfulness of God!!

Love this.. I feel like my husband and I battle so many of these things. God has really been using this couple to speak into my heart on such a deep level, as well as a former Pastor named Mark DeJesus. He does a lot of podcasts/videos on mental emotional and relationship health. I think a big problem we all face is portraying that image of our own traumas and broken families and parents onto God and expecting Him to be the same towards us..

“God is answering your prayer in a package you didn’t expect.” Yea! That spoke to me right there! I had been praying for God to lead me to a good church home and had also been praying for discipleship. I told God I don’t need to be entertained, I want to hear the gospel. I desired a bible believing and teaching church. In my search I came across a church on google and started to attend services. I absolutely loved it! But then I began to feel uncomfortable, because it’s not what I’m used to. The church is predominantly white and praise&worship is different…it’s calm, I’m used to high energy(superficial I know). Soon I realized the enemy was at work. This church is what I prayed for. They love the Lord, they love God’s children, and the Pastor preaches/teaches the gospel. This message definitely came on time❤️

How beautiful to see the words in flesh through the Perrys. When they share their experimental journey you can see the words of God being Alive and Active in their lives. 💥 the light has come and the glory of God shines ✨ 💥 Listening unravels my life in a nutshell. They were brought for us for time like this. The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and his Messiah and he will reign for ever and ever 🙌🏾 Praise the Lord The devil is out Revelation 12:11 They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death Rejoice ❤
