I'm almost four years in the mission field living in Rwanda- next to Uganda. I live in a home with 27 children. So much of what she is saying is exactly my experience. I think im about the same age as she is as well. I would love to swap stories with her! Its so rare to relate to someone so much.

Katie's book is what inspired me to spend a semester doing my social work internship in Uganda.

Wow I had 3. My third one threw me over the edge…it’s been 27 years and I’m still crawling out 😂 When my children were small we were all in Bible quizzing and over the years we memorized quite a few scripture but no where near the entire Bible. So glad I read the Bible though and was able to find out that being told I was born again and saved after saying a sinners prayer simply was NOT true. Reading and learning the Bible is a very good and important thing: In 1983 When I was 17 I was shown in the Bible that “Ye must be born again”. I was told to say a “sinners prayer” I sincerely repented and cried rivers of heartfelt genuine tears. I was told I was “born again” But after a while I experienced feelings of the frustration and guilt of not being able to live for God. I could not seem to grow in God like the Bible talked about and continued to revert back to a sinful lifestyle. I felt utterly defeated Bc I could not stay faithful to God, His Word or His commandments. 2 years later in 1985 I walked into an Apostolic Pentecostal Church and just like Cornelius in Acts 10, Apollos in Acts 18 and the Believers in Acts 19 I was shown a more perfect and excellent way regarding HOW to be born again: The Gospel is the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ: (I Corinthians 15: 1-4). The 4 Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John witness Jesus’ earthly ministry: He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons and performed many miracles. In John 3, Nicodemus came to Jesus. They talked ABOUT being born again (JOHN 3:3-5 Except a man be born of the WATER and of the SPIRIT he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven) but no one was ACTUALLY born again in the 4 gospels bc they were still under the law so it was not possible to be born again yet bc Jesus had not yet been glorified (John 7:37-39). This is why the thief on the cross was able to be in paradise. But after Calvary, in the Book of Acts, is when the dispensation of grace/Church age began. In order for a New Will and Testament to go into effect the testator (Jesus) had to die. It isn’t until the day of Pentecost, in Acts that we witness people actually BEING born of the water by being baptized by immersion ONLY in the name of Jesus and BEING filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:14-41, Acts 8:37-38, Acts 10:47-48 tells me I was NOT OBEYING the command to be buried with him in the waters of baptism and I had not received the Holy Ghost so thus was not resurrected to walk in newness of life. Therefore, could not live a victorious Christian life bc I was only living on a repentance experience. It wasn’t until I was 19 that I was truly transformed and had the most amazing born again experience ever! I was “born of the water” as I went down in JESUS NAME (biblically not one person was baptized in Father, Son and Holy Ghost.) and I was “born of the Spirit”when I came up out of the water speaking in tongues having the faith to believe that the blood of Jesus is applied to our hearts through repentance, baptism and receiving the Holy Ghost. REPENT, BAPTISM and HOLY GHOST, Acts 2:38, is the only way we are able to be redeemed to God bc of Adam and Eve’s sin.

Thank you!! I had never heard of you before but we both love kids!! I (single Mom) foster/adopted two sweet wonderful daughters and fostered eight more boys and girls - mostly teens. Yup. It's like that in India too. Poor families of single moms send their children to Orphanages simce they are unable to take care of them and they will be better taken care of, at an Orphanage. That's cool that Uganda has foster care. Theres no foster care in India.

Such painful realities... So grateful for those God's mobilizing in the Church to lift every yoke of injustice (Isaiah 59).

legally adopted in Uganda or from the US through gaurdianship? are all the "adopted" kids now living with her in the USA?
@familylife28 күн бұрын
In our understanding, legally adopted in Uganda. Not sure how many are living here--but both of those might be questions to clarify with Katie through social media.
