One of the most powerful testimonies I've heard for finding one's own voice despite all of the pressures and influences that work to homogenize humanity in our culture and reduce the individual down to a commodity. She's the real deal. Not just a another beautiful face. Great interview!

Feeling bad for the English speakers who weren't able to follow the interview with her sisters(5:00-7:00), I decided to translate it for you guys! M: Dropdead gorgeous. According to my mom she's been that pretty since birth. A: I can remember a phase in which she was scared and cried about a lot of things. We (the sisters) decided to try to harden Famke. M: I think Famke has always been wanton without someone actually noticing. A: I can remember that Famke had once chased me down an entire mall only because I was wearing one of her sweatshirts. She beated me up in the middle of the mall and pulled off the sweater. She was scouted by a modeling agency when she was seventeen years old getting big commissions fairly in Holland fairly soon. Then she traveled to Paris and moved to NY with the intention of coming back to the Netherlands later on. But she was doing so well. Her career was blossoming and the USA just suited her. M: Suddenly she had so much money. *laughs* I did not. A: On a particular moment, she started taking acting classes. She had never told me much about them. M: While I was still taking acting classes, she was starring in a James Bond movie and instantly became an huge star. A: We loved it. M: She had a car with a driver and a suite in the Amstel Hotel. So we stayed with her in her in turns. Whenever I go with her to things like that, it feels as I'm on a movie set. She's always been a bit the unapproachable, beautiful woman, not always easy to come in touch with. At the wedding of Antoinette, everyone started acting a little weird, when she came into the room. Just before she went home, she started dancing like crazy.. On her own and completely out of the blue. In my opinion, that's what makes Famke who she is. Of course Famke worries about aging. Not specifically about her appearance, but about getting diseases and losing loved ones. Last year we've lost our mother and our father passed away two years earlier. The last times everything went downhill, she was so far away and she had to travel by plane for eight hours only so she could see us. That did get to worry. My apologies for any grammar, spelling and/or wording mistakes, but as you can see (or read), I'm not a native English speaker. I hope it did help! :)

My favorite actress since I was 9, and now I just fell in love with her a bit more. "I don't go to parties, I don't date famous people, I'm antisocial, I think I got lucky". No Famke, you didn't get lucky. You built your career on HARD WORK and TALENT, instead of licking the right people's asses, which is so common and so annoying in every industry nowadays. Hard work or being good at something seems to be worthless and having contacts is the way to go. This is so wrong in so many ways. It's refreshing to see someone succeeding because of hard work instead of knowing the right people. ...And she likes Anna Karenina, my favorite book. I always imagined her as the perfect person to play Anna I literally gasped when she said her dream role is Anna! (screw you Keira). She admitted something I've never seem ANYONE admit in whatever career. "If I knew things were going to be this hard I'd never have started". So true haha. But people prefer to be fake and say "It was hard but I'd do it all over again" LIE LIE LIE. She looks unapproachable but so human at the same time. Definitely the most interesting person on this planet.

I listened to most if not all of this interview and wanted to say a little about it. If looks could kill we'd all be dead, that's what I take from it as its chief contribution. The endless barrage of questions sort of unnecessary. I see actors as a sort of simulated brand that tirelessly triumphs through their various conflict resolutions on the big screen. I don't see them as necessarily much more than that, or not much more than that anymore. And yes, most often the women are beautiful.

@jhcfight9 жыл бұрын
Inderdaad!
@downtown829 жыл бұрын

Vrij onschuldig grapje lijkt me.
