Praying and fasting teach us very important lessons. The desire still remains because it is natural. Many Africans (pre-colonial nonchristians and nonmuslims) believed as did NAtive Americans that variance in sexual orientation came from the Spirit-God. Some remote ethnic groupings still respect this truth as many lesbians and gays are the medicine men and women within their social structures. It is indeed a blessing to be different. It is a blessing to just be a creation of the most high.

Excellent response SKlektor. I've been debating this confusion ever since I've posted these videos. In addition to the fact, religion, not God has done nothing for the black communities across the country, and it never will just like it drew Europe in the dark ages for 500 years. You must also realize many people don't have any real substance without religion, no real purpose for their lives without a hope of a white robe in heaven one day. We all will be redeemed!

BTW, where I got my notion that Bessie was not bi and/or gay was from an incident described in a bio on her CD. It was a comment she infamously made to another female singer who greeted (or should I say 'tried to greet') Bessie with a hug and a kiss. Well, Ms. Bessie pushed the woman away with a slap and said "I don't play that shit." It sounds like it was probably a funny scene to witness but not something encouraging for someone who is contemplating 'coming out', (then or now).

Johnny Mathis is not only gay, but his is, also, still alive. He revealed that he was gay in an interview in 1982. After that, he did not speak about being gay again until another interview in 2006. However, he was gay in 1982 and gay in 2006, and he is still gay now.

What I find most interesting ItsMissJay, the religious teaching of Christianity and Islam were already in place way before these "books" existed. The ten commandments basically stemmed from the 29 negative confessions of the Egyptians. Remember they were in Egypt for 400 years. Christianity is just a formulation of an existing religious concept that came out of Africa. We unfortunately, have had our history and contributions to the world stolen and replaced with HIS-tory. This is a reality!
