I am watching from Clemson, SC. You called the ceilings "stucco". Here they are called "popcorn" ceilings. I LOVE your videos! You have so much respect for the former owners' privacy and quite an extensive knowledge of the different styles and trends over the decades. I love your disdain/frustration/anger towards the kids that vandalize the homes for no apparent reason. It's never too late to go back to school and study architecture. I know you'd be an amazing architect! ❤
@karenkolar947311 күн бұрын
I’ve told him the same before. Architect for sure!
@alecs11968 күн бұрын
Popcorn ceilings are sprayed out of a machine where chunks of shredded styrofoam pellets are combined with heavy latex paint. They are a cheap solution to cover flaws in ceilings especially in pour concrete structures. Stucco is real plaster applied manually by trained masters (stuccatori) , They were especially popular in Canadian homes in the 1950's at 60's due to the post-war influx of Italian builders and craftsmen. In the southwestern USA Stucco is still quite common for exterior finishes in Spanish colonial and pueblo style homes.

I don’t know how you find all these beautiful homes Ethan. It’s insane all the homes you show us. What’s happening out there? Being invaded?🤔. I’m watching from western New York. Not that far & it’s freezing here too. My niece always paints her kids walls. As they grow she changes it. She’s so gifted. I’m so jealous of people that have that awesome talent. All I can draw are stick people 😂take care & stay warm

Cost of living is incredibly high in Ontario, Canada. So most average people can no longer afford to buy homes like this. The ones that have the unbelievable amounts of money needed to buy them are usually developers (who knock them down to make condos), or the ultra rich (who knock them down to build mega mansions). This is all evidence of the middle class dissolving.

Greetings Ethan from Long Island, New York USA. That is where we are on that map. It’s cold here too around the low 30’s. This is a nice roomy house. That basement was pretty cool and I didn’t find it creepy at all. I know it’s an old retro house but it could be fixed up and people could be living in it. Just because it’s 40 years old is no reason to demolish it. I found that garage creepy. Those 2 bedrooms with the painted walls were really cool. The princess and the knight. You are right that princess did look manly. That room with the race cars was cool too. That is all going to be lost when they demolish this house. What a waste. That pool must have been nice when it was taken care of. Another epic adventure Ethan. I don’t know how you do it but you always find the best for us. Thank you for showing us around this cool 1980’s home. Stay safe and well and keep warm. Here in the USA we use the Fahrenheit thermometer and it’s cold.👍🆒5star content⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😊

I'd take a kitchen like that any day, but not those lights (flies always got trapped in them). The pink stone on the hearth is so unique... wonder if it's pink quartz? And yeah that's definitely a gas stove in the living room too (they're made to mimic a woodstove). For some reason, the basement looked so much larger than upstairs! It's too bad there wasn't room for that tub to be put in the master bedroom ensuite, and the kids' rooms were adorable. This was a really nice place!

This is a very nice place, pool in the back, not really any mold detected, yes the basement would have been good for some parties, with the bar and the kitchen there. The murals were so neat.My Dad used to drive in stock car races that also had demolition derbies, and have car shows, in Colorado, my family could watch the races from the upstairs apartment,pretty close,anyways loved both murals, and I painted a castle and a winding road down to a woods and people having a picnic with some animals running around in the background, did that in the mid seventies,at 14 years old. People love to nest,wish people didn’t always have to move because of money difficulties.

A couple 80s era houses I've lived in didn't have overhead lights especially in living room areas and even bedrooms sometimes. Guessing whoever built them relied on side table/night table lights or floor lighting that was popular then.

I’m about 8 minutes into video. The room with the fireplace is either the family room or living room. The informal eating area is where the big window is in the kitchen. You quickly passed through the formal dining room. Big hint to know what room that is, is when there’s a chandelier hanging low down (cause it would be directly down over a dining table).

Those two " decorated rooms " are something else ... must have been for kids . Fireplaces are cool but hate wall to wall carpeting ... looks good for about 6 months , then they look like crap .
