Don Lafontaine was a good man. I didn't know him personally but a couple of years before his death i found his email and contacted him to voice some text for my daughter's video. He did it without question and when I offered to pay him he just said to make a donation to a charity instead. Never will forget that.

SikWithit The sheer AMOUNT of Acting Greats that have come and gone is just amazing....and it's GREAT to see where some of the truly GREATEST Actors ever now reside...I was born in 65, and I believe he died in 38 or 39...but I STILL know Douglas Fairbanks Sr. was probably one of, if not THE...best actors of all time!! It's strange to hear them talking about how dramatically the acting landscape changed with "Talkies".... And Doug Sr. said he felt it took away from acting somehow...instead of adding to the roles...that Swashbuckler he!! I know he's like the Founder of The USC Cinematic School, and the very first host of the Academy Awards. Now THAT'S...amazing to me...good job Mr. Dark...

I love the unknown history you add. You don't just do those that are well known. You also include those that had a role in making Hollywood what it is today. I wish I could have seen it when it was just beginning. I think stars were more glamorous. There was a whole "persona" they cultivated.

I recognized the hall from the Rocky movie right before you said it. I'm 54 and I've been around for a lot of these people's deaths. The memories of where I was when I found out about their deaths comes back to me as soon as I see their names. Crazy how fast time goes.

Mel Blanc. Someone in a documentary about him said it best that he should not just be considered the greatest voice actor of all time, but one of the best actors in general. The range he had is envious to say the least.

It's really a shame that Mickey Rooney was never given a TV special & honored for his incredible work. Sad. :( Mickey Rooney was loved by so many....I watched all of his Andy Hardy shows when I was young, & the incredible work he did with Judy Garland will always be a permanent part of my childhood memories.

Thank you Veronica Rodriguez. I was going to say the same thing. I never heard of Barbara LaMarr until I checked a book out of the library nearly 40 years ago - the title of which I can't remember. It dealt with Silent Screen Goddesses. And for YEARS I thought I was the only one who even knew who she was. I'm very moved by the fact that she has not been forgotten - of course the death of Rudolph Valentino the very same year obviously overshadowed her transition. And not only that, she was one of the very first (probably not THE first) Hollywood casualty - you know, someone who found fame, but lived too fast, and therefore burned out too early. Sad. In fact, I really don't know if any of her movies still exist. So yes, please include Barbara La Marr in a future video.

A great one and not a single one that I know of that you missed. Thank you for mentioning the Wilcoxes and there is a street named after them that does run in Los Angeles. The line from Harvey Korman as Headly Lamar in Blazing Saddles about Douglas Fairbanks is true. "How did he perform all of those magnificent stunts with such tiny hands and feet?" Truly amazing and I never tire of watching The Mark of Zoro or The Thief of Baghdad. I do believe that the team name at Hollywood High School is "The Sheiks" because fo the role Rudi Valentino played in the movie with Agnes Ayers who is also interred at Hollywood Forever in the Columbarium.

In addition to the characters you mentioned, Mel Blanc also was the voice of Deputy Droopalong on Ricochet Rabbit, Secret Squirrel, The Frito Bandito, the raven in the Munsters' cuckoo clock, and Jack Benny's puttering, sputtering old Maxwell Roadster on Jack's radio show. He voiced many others, but it would take up too much space to list them all here.

It is sad that Valentino died so young...what more could have been from him? We will never, ever know. A true legend in Hollywood. Does anyone know if American Horror Story actually filmed at Valentino's mausoleum with Lady Gaga, "The Countess", playing his lover?? Or was it filmed at a fake mausoleum site?? Just curious...somebody out there knows the right answer.

My mother defied my father and went to Rudolph Valentino's funeral at Campbell's in Manhattan: 50,000 screaming women.
