I am more than convince that Arthur deserves an academy award for best short documentary. He puts these series of Hollywood Graveyard so zealously and so well told. The way he briefly tell us about every single deceased celebrity with a perfect synopsis of each individual beginning, work, controversies and method of death. I would like him to feature the nitch of my favorite movie mogul Dino Delaurentiis who is interned in Communale Cemeterio in Torre Annuciatta, Italy.

Victor Hugo I was wondering where he was buried! I grew up just 4 houses away from were he wrote " Les Misérables ", in Guernsey, Channel Islands. He was in exile there and had big house in Hautville, or up town, with a view from his top floor that could see his beloved France on a clear day! His House is a museum and as he left it!

We found the graves of the great actors Simone Signoret and Yves Montand close to the Columbarium. Their marriage and love story would have made a nice addition to your tour, btw. The great jazz violinist and collaborator with jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli is also buried there. Enjoyed the tour.

This is my favorite Hollywood Graveyard video! I was fortunate enough to go on a school trip to Paris in 1989 and a few of us split off to ride The Metro to Pere Lachaise Cemetary to visit Jim Morrison's grave. We found his grave, and passed by Chopin's grave too. It was and remains the most fascinating cemetary I've ever visited. I could have spent days there, just walking around and viewing the ornate and beautiful monuments on most of the graves. It is my dream to go back and spend a few days walking through Pere Lachaise.
@amandanies31742 жыл бұрын
I hope you'll get that chance again. If you have family, take them with you. Maybe they might not share your desire to visit Pere Lachaise, but maybe they would be fascinated by some famous people they heard of, including Jim Morrison. What a trip that would be. There's another grave in Paris I want to visit. In Picpus Cemetery, where many victims of the Reign of Terror are laid to rest, is the grave of Gilbert du Motier, otherwise known as the Marquis de Lafayette, the hero of two worlds, who fought in the American Revolution. An American flag is always present over his grave.

Toklas; At Passy Cemetery - Gabriel Faure (French composer); I would have also liked to have seen a tour of Montparnasse Cemetery where Alfred Dreyfus is is laid to rest, but I understand time constraint only could do so much! Loved the video as always!

I‘m REALLY GLAD to see Oscar Wilde’s tomb looking fairly clean now, I guess the glass around it works. The first time I visited there in 1988 they hadn’t started that crap yet. Les Miserables was written on British soil. Victor Hugo wrote it while in exile in Guernsey, as well as completing hunchback of notre dame, in 20 years in Guernsey, he wrote more than in any other 20 year period. Belgium and Jersey lay claim to Victor Hugo in exile, and name streets etc where he lived, but he only lived in those places for up to 6 months. He finally found a home in Guernsey, his first period living in Guernsey was 16 years, then moved back to France, then moved back to Guernsey for another 4 years, before moving back to France again. He had planned to move back to Guernsey and spend the rest of his time on the island but fell ill and died before that could happen. He had to obtain special permission to buy Hauteville House where he lived, as he wasn't a British subject, he left the house in his will to his son. His son finally obtained permission of the Duke of Normandy (the British monarch) to give Hauteville House to the city of Paris, to be opened as a museum, the House is open to the public April to September, with guided tours by students of the University of Paris, so you are able to see where he wrote les miserables. Guernsey and the other channel islands are the personal property of the British monarch in their role as Duke of Normandy. Another great video, can't wait for more

@@timthorman7029 - To be fairer to Andrew's comment, Tim . . . Arthur plavced his narrative voice on to the 3-4 videos taken by the man who did a lot of his London, etc, camera work for his episodes. Mainly it was about authors and writers, musicians and songwriters, pop stars, film stars and many celebrity TV people. There might have been a few science people like Faraday, etc. But I think that Andrew was just speaking about so many more who also lie in Westminster and who were not shown at the time . . . this is just my own opinion by the way, nothing against what you said in your reply at all as in he did it. As a bit was done - but a lot more was also missed out on who is there so far . . .
