Today I visit the gravesites and remember some of the cast members and Dan Curtis, the creator of the classic, 1960s supernatural, cult TV soap opera DARK SHADOWS.
I also visit the gravesite the gravesite of cult horror film actress Karen Black, who starred in Dan Curtis' cult horror classic movie, TRILOGY OF TERROR. Black also appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's final film, FAMILY PLOT.
Final resting places include:
Dan Curtis (Creator of Dark Shadows) - gravesite at Eden Memorial Park in Mission Hills, CA
Karen Black (Star of Trilogy of Terror) - gravesite at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, CA
Christopher Bernau (Phillip Todd) - cremated with no final resting place to visit
Jonathan Frid (Vampire Barnabus Collins) - cremated and has no final resting place to visit at this time
Katherine Helmond (Mrs. Malone in Family Plot) - gravesite unknown
I also visit Oceanside beach and the Paradise By The Sea RV Beach Resort and the Sea Hive antiques, collectibles and memorabilia shop in Oceanside, CA.
Thanks for joining me on another nostalgic road trip down memory lane to the cemetery.

I remember as a kid rushing home to catch the opening credits of DARK SHADOWS, With the crashing waves and the eerie music and voice over intoned the shows beginning. My Mom always watched General Hospital, and DS started afterward at 3:30 pm. My Mother couldnt figure out why I was so enthralled with the series, l told her she had her soaps, and l have mine, but I knew, and that's what counted. 💀☠👻🎃

IDK how old you are Steve but I’m sure we are of similar age. I raced home everyday after school to watch “Dark Shadows” and suffered for ten minutes each day waiting for “General Hospital” to end so I could watch Barnabas Collins and the gang. Awesome show. Even bought and still have the 45rpm recording of “Quentin’s Theme” from the series. There was a new version of the show on prime time television in the 1990’s (I think). It was good but nowhere near the original. I think part of the charm of the original was how poorly or low budget it was made. Sets were not well made and you could see someone or a shadow of someone moving in the background in most episodes. But still a great show to me. I also loved Karen Black. I think most males, especially of our age group did. Very pretty woman and very good actress. Thanks for the video Steve!

Karen Black was one of my favorites. She played many interesting roles, including a flight attendant who had to land a 747 in one of the Airport movies. She was quirky attractive. I think one eye socket was slightly higher than the other. Sadly, she fell on hard times at the end, and part of her final illness medical care was crowd funded by her fans. RIP Karen.

I'm a big Karen Black fan. She was kind enough to give an interview from her hospital bed shortly before she passed away. It was difficult to watch as she was weak. The interviewer asked her what she would most like to be remembered for and she said she hoped it wasn't Trilogy of Terror, but that's what she would be remembered for probably. She obviously wasn't happy she did it but her true fans just love the entire body of her work. She was amazing! That interview was on KZbin. Thanks for visiting her gravesite!

Barnebus Collins was arguably the first vampire a viewer could feel sympathy for. Yes he could be evil, but his desire to have the curse he was under removed, his desperate search for his beloved Josette, and his confrontation with his little sister Sarah's ghost who had been working against him to stop him from going too far against members of his own family and close family friends, gave the character a backstory that made you feel sorry for him at times.

I loved Dark Shadows it was my favorite show back in the day. I am sure Fritz was with you in spirit Steve , he was a very lucky man to have such a good friend like you. You are truly a sweet and decent man the way you talk about the people we loved or new through movies thank you again.

Steve, that was one of my most famous soap operas. Even though I was 8 or 9 when it started, I caught on fast. I watched the whole series from start to finish within the past 10 years. I am 63 now. Very spell binding show! Starting to watch it again. Thanks Steve for sharing this video with us all! God bless!

I remember Dark Shadows very well. I also couldn't wait to get home from school to watch. I remember a "45" record I had that I played over and over. Thank you, Steve for the vlog and the memories of a show I loved.🤗

Have been a long time fan of both Dan Curtis, & Dark Shadows. My late mom followed ... Shadows, bringing back some nice memories there. On Curtis, he also produced the first two "Kolchak" TV films, The Night Stalker," (1972), & ... Night Strangler" (1973). The Kolchak TV series began w/o Curtis in '74 which was regrettable, as Dan certainly had a knack for this type of material. I understand this irked him some in later years but he was well-loved fellow due to his work with such. I hope he realized how much so before he passed. For fans of DS, there's a LOT of memorbila out there, model kits, a long running paperback series by Marilyn Ross (a psuedonym of W.E.D. Ross), a comic book from Gold Key that ran into mid 1970s, and more. Karen Black was a favorite also; in too many to name really, but the final installment of Trilogy of Terror will haunt everyone, trust me. Sorry to say several others have passed from Shadows since late 2020; john Karlen, (Willie Loomis), Diana Millay (Laura Collins), and Geoffrey Scott. Scott did a Jekyll/Hyde type character in 1968 season whose name escapes me. Plus more, sadly; doing an updating wouldn't be a bad idea. Then, it has been well over 50 years now since DS began. Yeah, the sets were VERY cheesy, all right. Irwin Allen's series were notorious for that Sorry for the early loss of your friend, Steve . We are of a similar age, and I can relate.

I remember watching with my sister in the 70's (she's passed away also). Later in life, my early 20's I met the property manager (Robert Anderson) of both Dark Shadows & Kolchak: The Night Stalker in Las Vegas. I've lost touch with him and he's possibly passed on now. Robert owned a few props from the show Barnabas cane topper and the bell ringer cord

I started watching Dark Shadows in 1966. I would tear home from school everyday to see it. Had the pleasure of running into Laura Parker in 1969 in Virginia Beach. She was drop dead gorgeous! I saw Karen Black here on Whidbey Island while filming. I think it was 1988. You couldn’t miss her with her striking features! She was very nice to all of us awestruck fans she ran into, which was often because at that time we had one store, a gas station, pharmacy and post office. Now we are minus the pharmacy. Lol

I was born in '63, so I was very young when DS aired, but I loved it. The only thing that scared me was when Barnabas took that serum & immediately turned old. I had nightmares about that & my mom wouldn't let me watch it after that. Lol
