Famous Graves - JFK and Jackie Kennedy Graves Arlington National Cemetery and Eternal Flame (4K). Today were outside of Washington, DC in VA at Arlington Cemetery visiting the JFK Gravesite along with Jackie Kennedys Grave. Arlington Cemetery is massive but there's 2 iconic locations here: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and of course the JFK gravesite.

I called the superintendent of Arlington Cemetery. And he and I walked over those grounds. They're hauntingly beautiful grounds, white crosses all in a row. And finally I thought I'd found the exact spot, the most beautiful spot in the cemetery. I called Jackie at the White House and asked her to come out there, and she immediately accepted. And that's where the President is buried today. A park service ranger came up to me and said that he had escorted President Kennedy on a tour of those grounds a few weeks before. And Kennedy said, "That was the most beautiful spot in Washington." That's where he's buried. - Robert S McNamara

My family was living in London and we were among the nearly million people who turned out to see President and Mrs Kennedy as their motorcade drove through central London in June 1961. I vividly remember the excitement and joy of the crowds as they passed by. I remember my parents saying they were never prouder than on that day to be American. Two years later, we were back living in the US in Arlington, VA and were on the Arlington Bridge on the day of the President's funeral. This time there were no excited waving crowds but silence and quiet sobbing as the caisson passed by. Forever burned in my mind is the sound of drums and the clopping of the horses hooves on the bridge. A terrible loss for the nation and the world.

Nick, this was a stunningly beautiful tribute to President Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy. I've never seen a better video. I was only 5 years old when President Kennedy was killed but I remember it all so well. It affected me so much when I was watching the President's funeral on TV with my mom and little John John saluted his father's casket as it passed by. To this day I can't get that image out of my head. I felt like I was so much older than him when I really wasn't, and I felt so sad for him when my mom explained to me that our President was assassinated. My parents took us on vacation to Florida during that time, when President Kennedy's motorcade passed by our hotel just days before he got to Dallas where he was killed. My dad told me that story so many times over the years before he died himself. Thank you for doing this and sharing this with us. I hope one day I can get there in person. I know it's on my bucket list.

I was there in 1963 with my elementary school trip to Washington DC. At that time the grave site of course was just Kennedy surrounded by a small white picket fence with the flame very simple because this was shortly after the assassination. We also saw Lindon Johnson he was coming out of some building and came over to your class that was waiting across the street.

Hello Nick. My compliments to you on presenting such a respectful and dignified video. The blending of historical footage along with footage of your visit to the gravesite was definitely well done. I was 11 when JFK was assassinated, and I remember it as if it were yesterday. I remember my mother crying as she was trying to make dinner. My dad, a WWII veteran, was extremely angry. My family and I lived outside of Washington DC during The Kennedy Years (1961 to 1963) when my father was stationed at the Pentagon. We visited President Kennedy's grave shortly after his burial. It was a very sad time in our country's history. The shock and grief of his senseless assassination left a unbearable sadness. Those were fours days in November I will never forget. His grave in November 1963-1964 was a very simple grave. Nothing like it is today. A small mound of turf, dotted with military hats from the various branches around it plus the flickering Eternal Flame that Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy with Robert and Edward Kennedy beside helped her lit. Shortly thereafter a small white picket fence surrounded the gravesite and the two babies (Arabella - stillborn 1956. Patrick - died 2 days later after being born in early August 1963) that President and Mrs. Kennedy lost were buried inside the enclosure with their parents. Don't let it be forgot. That once there was a spot. For one brief shining moment. That was known as Camelot. There will never be another Camelot.

The first time I was to Arlington, Jackie had just recently passed and there was just a small temporary marker for her. The "Eternal Flame" is visible from the National Mall.

An excellent video, tying in the actual event with the President’s grave & the eternal flame. Very well done with the videographer’s own thoughts. Thank you for this.

Had the privilege of walking those grounds; have to comment that its hard for me to be there without being emotional....All the History! The JFK memorial is a place all of its own! For 60 years, the assassination is still unsolved....😢

Hey thanks for checking out my video. You’re welcome to use any of my own footage and please credit me. Any of the actual funeral coverage doesn’t belong to me though and is not mine to say one way or the other. You can tell what’s my own footage and what’s not. Once the video goes up if you can send me the link that would be great. Thanks 😎✌️

You missed the TWO CHILDREN. The first is Patrick Kennedy, who died in infancy a few months prior to the assassination. The second child is Arabella Kennedy, whose grave marker simply reads "Daughter" as she was stillborn and did not receive a birth certificate or an official name.
