I always felt so terrible for Norm and Audra. The network sabotaged that sitcom, and the two actors were railroaded by the producers. Those two were done dirty. Who did I prefer? It’s hard to say because I was in love with both the Ropers and Mr. Furley. However, if someone put a gun to my head I would probably go with Mr. Furley. Norm and Audra were completely superb in their roles as the Ropers, but I have to say that Knotts’ as Mr. Furley added such a marvelous extra *lift,* which I think the show needed. Threes Company was the highlight of my week, as my family never missed an episode. It remains a very good childhood memory. Wonderful video, Scott.

I loved the Ropers it was one of the funniest sitcoms on at the time. Stanley with his goofy grin, kinda like you Scott! What a shame the network cancelled it so soon. It should have lasted longer than it did. Norman Fell was in so many things over the years. I am surprised they both died so young, but they had serious diseases. RIP Ropers and thanks for the funny memories of my childhood.

Thanks so much for this upload, Scott. Most fans of "Three's Company" don't realize that the sitcom was based on the British sitcom, "Man About The House." the landlords from that show were spun off into "George and Mildred," and finally, "Robin's Nest" was the prototype for "Three's a Crowd." The American franchises were based on what happed in the UK, in fact, as I understand it, the British produces owned a piece of the American production. Anyway, it was a huge mistake to have spun off Fell and Lindley, they were supporting characters and not strong enough to fully carry a show on their own. By the way, there is now a headstone for Audra Lindley, there is a pic of it on "Find A Grave."

For the 1970s, the Ropers had a fresher approach - at least for Three's Co. Don Knotts was established and had his own brand of acting. That could possibly be seen as dated, but Don was Don and it worked well for the show. No way they (the producers) were going to let him go. Just wish they could have let The Ropers continue. Great tribute, Scott.

I loved when Mr. Roper would break the fourth wall - like the beginning/end clips you showed - and would tell a joke and then laugh while looking at the camera...genius. You're right Scott trying to decide who I liked better Ropers or Furley is a tough decision. They both did their own things that used to make me laugh. Like the look on Furleys face when he would be standing outside of the bedroom and misunderstood what was going on inside the bedroom like if Jack and Janet were trying to hang curtains or something Jack would say something like Janet could you help me with my rod ? Then Janet would be like what's wrong with it? Jack would be like i can't get it up. Janet would say try pulling it by the end. Jack would say i am pulling the end but it's not working. Janet would be like pull it harder. Then Jacks like oh come on Janet I'm not gonna stand here holding this thing all day. Meanwhile Mr. Furleys standing right outside the door bugging out thinking Jack's a pervert lol. You know the scenario. That's back when tv shows were funny.

Great vlog Scott! When I watched the clip of the Ropers ( I'd never heard of it before) at the very start of your vlog I thought it reminded me of a British 70s/80s sitcom called George & Mildred! It's a tough choice between Mr. Furley or the Ropers. I'm a devout Don Knotts fan, yet Norman Fell and Audra Linley gave the original "3's Company" show a watchable depth that kept you interested from week to week. The Mr. Furley character took the show into a rather different mindset. It was funny and entertaining albeit not with the original comedic tension that was between 'Jack' and 'Mr. Roper'. I watched only one episode of 'The Ropers' when it was originally aired. My TV interests went elsewhere after that.
