Today I visit the gravesite of model, singer and actress Peggy Lipton and others who are buried at the famous Jewish Cemetery, Hillside Memorial Park, in Culver City, California.
Peggy Lipton is best known for her starring role in the 1969-1973 TV police drama THE MOD SQUAD. Her co-star Michael Cole is now 79-years old, and Clarence Williams III is now 80-years old. The three played undercover hippy cops on the popular series.
Gravesite tours also included:
Jerry Weintraub (Music Producer and Actor)
Leonard Nimoy (Actor)
Shelly Novack (Football Player and Actor)
I also remember actor Tige Andres, who played Captain Adam Greer on The Mod Squad.
Thanks for joining me on another nostalgic road trip down memory lane to the graveyard.

Burt-tv, being buried in a cemetery doesn't mean you won't be forgotten. I've been to many cemeteries were the graves were in rough shape and barely readable. In a 100 yrs or sooner we are all sadly going to be forgotten. Unless you are a celebrity and that's not ever a guarantee. In a 100 yrs or so from now on it a distant relative if yours stumbles on your grave and notices you gave the same last name but that's about it, and that's only if your tombstone is still there and whole and still readable. I hear that some cemeteries reuse the grave plots after 100 years if that grave hasn't had any recent visitors, which is downright sick. I'm not trying to be a downer, but just stating the facts that 100 years from now we will all be forgotten. It's a sad thing to think about, but it happens. I believe in Jesus Christ and with Him one-day we will have everlasting life and be never forgotten. Our bodies will be gone, but our souls will last forever in Heaven w/ Jesus Christ. Don't worry about your earthly body, but rather your spiritual body.

This brought back a memory for me! I met Peggy Lipton in 1971, at Paramount Pictures! I went to Azusa Pacific College at the time, and I was in the school choir. That choir was chosen to sing backgrounds for singers on the Salvation Army "Army of Stars" Christmas program, and this was taped at various studios in L. A., this time at Glen Glenn Sound Studios, on the Paramount Movies lot. When we weren't singing we were able to wander the Paramount lot and look at many of the movie ad TV show sets they had. The sets were actually outdoors so that they could use natural light instead of spotlights. One of the sets was "The Mod Squad," and only Tighe Andrews and Peggy Lipton were there that day. One of the other choir members, a student at Azusa Pacific, asked Peggy for her autograph, and the only piece of paper he had was his college meal ticket! Peggy signed it "Happy eggs to you! Peggy Lipton." We also got to see them filmig a scene from "Mannix" with Mike Connors. Quite an experience!

I was just 19 yrs old & am / always will be a die hard Jersey girl who came to live in Anaheim/Southern California since 1973 but....when I die, my body will be shipped back to historic Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill NJ to be buried alongside my parents, my Aunt & Uncle & any other family members who may pass away. My 7 siblings/ all my remaining family are in NJ, which I love. It's my privilege & pleasure to visit their graves & say the Rosary for the repose of their souls. I remember all the good that they were and did...because they are still living within me! So visiting graves to pay your respects & reminisce is a large part of LIVING! Thank you Steve for another interesting trip. Mod Squad is where I watched Peggy Lipton...and yes...wasn't it 1969 just yesterday? 😁💕

@@TheGraveyardChannel if you get the chance, Google Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. It dates back to the Revolutionary War. The headstones are a fascinating collection of history, personal stories, and the different modes of mausoleums, headstones etc from the Civil War, Victorian & different eras are amazing! This cemetery always seems to have regular visitors who tend to their loved ones graves meticulously. It's a relief from your grief to go there & feel a bit closer to them...at least I do!

Visiting cemeteries is a true virtue in almost all religions. It’s a great thing you do Steve. I’m Catholic and I always try to remember to say a prayer for peace for the folks and their families in your videos. It’s by proxy, but I’m sure God doesn’t mind that. And it’s fascinating. I’ve been a graveyard visitor since childhood. It’s history, it’s culture, it’s intensely personal too, because often the family and friends are deceased too, so I always think that without visitors the cemeteries might not be kept up as much, you know? Thanks for what you do. (Julie/Peggy Lipton inspired me to iron my hair as a teenager! SO GROOVY)

Love this Steve once again great job. I loved MOD Squad back in the day. I first met Clarence Williams III in 1975 at a friends home in Maine where Clarence and his late wife Gloria were visiting our mutual friend Jane Edmonds at her home 9 gables in Eliot, Maine. After that we were all invited to Clarence's Broadway play we met backstage and went out to dinner in NYC. What a time it was, I can remember how much I liked Clarence and his beautiful wife Gloria. It was hard to not think of "Link" while we were together. I know he spoke highly of this costars from MOD Squad. A true gentleman and friend.

Hi Steve, I agree 100 % that visiting cemeteries are normal. I like to visit celebrity cemeteries as it gives me a chance to talk to them and tell them how much of an influence they were on me and maybe a couple of stories how they affected my life. Love you Steve. You are doing a great job.

I loved The Mod Squad!!! I guess I must be a bit weird, because I do like cemeteries, and as a nurse, I took care of terminal patients. It was an honor to assist them to the next journey of their soul.

it takes a special person to do what you do and your patients are fortunate to have a nurse who sees it as an honor. for many, i'm sure it's just a job. thanks for doing what you do. you are an unsung hero, in my book!

Visiting Gravesites With Steve I did it for two weeks. Dug about 5. It was an old Jewish cemetery near Atlantic City. We called the guy who drove the vault truck, Igor. Both him and the truck were broken and on a tilt. I quit when the boss gave me a little set of grass clippers and told me to trim headstones. Hundreds of them. This was long before weed eaters lol.

Having a gravesite to visit isn't abnormal. I wish I was able to visit but they are either too far away or did not wish to be in a cemetary. I made a plague to represent a family member who passed away, was cremated, and ashes scattered out of the country. The plague is with me whenever I want to look at it and remember. Nothing wrong with seeing these "visits" on computer. It just shows how much one loves all of these people who brought joy to our lives. It's nice to have a place to see and remember them!!!!!!!

I love it when I find ones I want and I just happily stumble on them like you do. Just a guess but elephants are considered to have a good memory so I wonder if it's a do not forget him I remember you? Or maybe he just loved elephants I guess. And I'm with you Steve. It's good to be different. It's only recent decades where people think visiting gravesites is weird. But doesn't it make you wonder why they even clicked on it in the first place?

I was doing some gemology research on the way driving back from a convention. I visited many, many graves of realities I knew and most whom I didn't know but had read their records. I took pictures of their graves and said a few words. I'm not one for superstitions but I got a overwhelming sense of clarity and as I was driving out of town and I started to cry as they all tried to start talking to me. I don't know what they were asking but I remember myself saying, "Yes, I will" "I'll try" 20 years later, I feel, I've left them all down.
