These stories you tell, Chris... they mean something. More often than not, once a short window of grieving and remembering passes, these lives fade from our view. You have such a unique gift of storytelling that has seen no other come close to it. I can clearly hear the awe and respect in your voice as you honor those on these journeys you take us along with you on. Just when i think you've outdone yourself on a previous journey, you come along with another journey that floods my mind with memories and takes me back to a more simpler time. I am so in awe of you, sir. Thank you so much for once again allowing me to accompany on your journeys. It means more than you can ever imagine.

Wow. David Ruffin was a seriously great singer. I was able to catch the Temptations a few years ago in concert. I couldn't believe they were still touring, and Otis Williams (founder of the Temptations) was still going strong. Bless their hearts. Rest in Peace David, your talent lives on.

I'm a Michigander, and Detroit doesn't get much good press these days. Thank you for this tour. This is a gorgeous cemetery that I wasn't aware of, having always lived in the mid to upper part of the state. Michigan has produced a lot of great entertainers, musicians and influential people. I love the way you are always respectful and tell the stories of those you visit. Thanks again.

A lovely video and a lovely cemetery. Rosa Parks' bus was used in the movie "The Long Walk Home" with Whoopi Goldberg and Cissy Spacek. Apparently it wasn't in great condition, so had to be towed in the scenes it was in, but still great they were able to use it at all. You always do a great job. I am looking forward to your upcoming instalments on Woodlawn Cemetary. Did you know that Aretha also was a talented piano player? She would say; Give me a note and just play the whole song singing along in the same key as the accompanying musicians. As a pianist myself I can’t tell you enough what a great ear she had. Miss Franklin was also no nonsense and gave a few interviewers some awkward moments. May she RIP

Nice vlog. I'm wondering how many people know about the teenager who refused to give up her seat 2 years before mrs rosa parks. Her name was Martha white. She died last month. She was in a nursing home. She was in her 90s I saw she had passed on legacy. She was 16 at the time. Mrs parks was 30. She should be remembered too. I'd heard about her years ago on one those programs things you didn't know. Sad she has been forgotten. 2 females did the same thing, one was a 16 year old teenager, the other a adult. Yet they were both Africian Americans, both females and both went to jail. Thanks to legacy for telling us she had passed Sad she was in a nursing home. Don't know if she had a family. I'd like to know. She deserve a marker. She's already been forgotten because very few knew about her. Not saying she's more important than mrs Rosa Parks, but just younger and did the same thing. I wonder if the NAACP know. Give this young woman acknowledgement at least. Thank you for sharing this video. Beautiful place. Love, respect and positivity always.👍💯💜🙂🌻🌷🙌🙏🙂✨🦋🌠🌟👋. Neita James. . .2

Claudette Colvin is why Rosa Parks is famous. Claudette refused her seat 9 mos before anyone heard of Rosa but was 15 and pregnant so the NAACP used Rosa Parks instead. From Claudette’s wiki; For many years, Montgomery's black leaders did not publicize Colvin's pioneering effort. Colvin has said, "Young people think Rosa Parks just sat down on a bus and ended segregation, but that wasn't the case at all." Colvin's case was dropped by civil rights campaigners because Colvin was pregnant with a child out of wedlock during the proceedings. It is now widely accepted that Colvin was not accredited by civil rights campaigners at the time due to that notion, with even Rosa Parks saying "If the white press got ahold of that information, they would have [had] a field day. They'd call her a bad girl, and her case wouldn't have a chance."

@@Whittdocs Greetings. There was once a very popular Assistant Editor of Ebony magazine named Michele Burgen who was buried at this cemetery in year 1980. She was 26 years old at the time of her murder. She was also a pilot and the president of an aviary group of Black Female Pilots called the Bessie Coleman Flight Aviators. She was also the sister of Actress Denise Nichols. Unfortunately, her murder was never solved. Is it possible that you could feature a picture of her plot sometime soon?

I wish you would have let us in Michigan know you were coming. We would have shown you all the spots the living would go such as the playing field of the Tigers and Lions. We could take you to the other side of the state to the Gerald Ford Museum and his final resting place for him and Betty Betty Ford. Scott on Tape visited there during the pandemic and it was closed. Hope to meet WittDocs someday and it would be our pleasure. As we say say in Michigan, "See ya later".

The door code to the Rosa Parks Freedom Chapel is 2468 just incase you come back. Also, Levi Stubbs of The Four Tops and the Winans (gospel singers) are in the same section as David Ruffin. Right across the road from Ruffin is Renaldo "Obie" Benson who was a member of The Four Tops. Section 40 has Lawrence Payton of The Four Tops and Roquel Billy Davis is buried right next to Payton. Pervis Jackson and Bobbie Smith are in mausoleums right outside Rosa Parks Freedom Chapel. Marvin Johnson is in the back right corner section of the cemetery. Proof from D12 is in the same chapel as Rosa Parks. Dee Williams is in the section right along the front gate of the cemetery as soon as you pull in. There are many more that I have visited there as I'm from the area and I'm always showing new people the graves. Beautiful cemetery.
