Hi Cory! Greetings from Charleston, SC, USA. We have many of the same plants here in Charleston because of our similar climate and all the species that were introduced back in the 50s, after WWII. The tree you saw around the 31 minute mark is a Japanese Plum Tree. The "strawberry-leaves-looking" plant is most likely a variation of Lantana. : ) Thank you for sharing all that you do! Busy families that can't up and fly across the world, like mine, appreciate the tours!

I just finally got to finish this video and wanted to thank you for showing us this dream of a mall. A lot of the malls in the states have closed down and you just don't see that many malls any more and the ones that are open have a lot of closed empty spaces in them due to the competition of Amazon on line ordering and Walmart on line ordering. The competition is so tough that it's forcing a lot of brick n mortar chain stores and malls out of business. A lot of my friends hate the way things have changed because we all still love to get out and get exercise walking around the malls it's very relaxing the elderly loved it too for walking exercise to get out of the hot sun, there was a group of them that called themselves the "Power Walkers" because they loved getting walking exercise in the mall but they went early before the stores would open and they would speed walk early before customers got to the mall. If you have time check out the dead malls in America videos on you tube.

Thank you so much for your videos Cory. I love exploring new places and I do that whenever I can (if I was a little less shy I'd probably love to make videos as well but we'll see!), and tbh your videos are one of the best things that happened to me. It makes me able to actually explore a place so far away from me, like I was actually there. It's amazing and it makes me want to do my best so I can travel and see more of the world. Please keep up the great work!!!

Hey, Cory. Great walking tour as always. My one takeaway from this video is that mangoes are crazy expensive in Japan. Where I live, I get 4 medium ripe mangoes for only 200 yen or thereabouts. I usually make mango floats out of them, which is a sweet dessert sorta like tiramisu, sans coffee. Cheers!
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah. You can find reasonably priced mangoes in the supermarket. This fruit shop specializes in gift fruits, which is why they're so expensive. Mango floats sound amazing!!! I have to try that! Thanks for watching!

Ah yes, there are traditional tea ceremonies that you can pay and make a reservation for and be a part of. I did one with my family back in the 1990's when I was in middle school. It was very fancy and nice, and that was when I fell in love with real matcha tea. It's a bit expensive to do one of those nice ones, and I'm on a tight budget right now, so hopefully I can film one in the future! Thank you for watching!!

@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there are people on scooters here, but bicycles are the most common form of transportation besides cars or walking. The pachinko/slot machine parlors are popular because of the gambling aspect of it. Gambling is very addicting. hehehe And yes, you can win lots of money. My friend won over $3000 one time, and I know of a foreigner here who won $1000 one day, $800 the next day, and $1200 the day after that.

how do you handle getting stared at while you're vlogging, it makes me so uncomfortable when people stare, i just want them to say something lol. You know what type of shoes are really good walking shoes for me are Vans, they have this line where its like "soft foam" i can literally walk in it allll day!I laughed out loud when you said some uses masks to hide their herpes lmao. I love Hawaiian food so i cannot wait to find some lilikoi cheesecake! or maybe kalua pig, but i doubt they have boar there. great video! great content! i feel like you discovering the manga location will be me discovering all the persona 5 spots in shibuya super exciting!
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 5 жыл бұрын
I've been doing walking videos in public for almost 7 years, so to me when people stare, I don't even notice too much anymore. Even if I do notice, it doesn't bother me. The only people I look out for when filming are security guards because once in a blue moon, one will come up to me and tell me to stop filming (usually in a store). Vans have a walking shoe? Interesting, I'll look it up. It would be dope to be sponsored by Vans! lol And yessss lilikoi!!! When I lived on a Kona coffee farm in Hawaii, I had a lilikoi and guava tree right outside my balcony... so I could reach out and grab one without even leaving the house. I miss lau lau and kalua pig and lomi salmon so much. I'm glad you enjoyed this video tour!!!

Cory is there anything like netflix in Japan so you can save money on watching movies? It's $12 a month and ther are movies, comic book story series and other series of shows on netflix but you have to have wi fi to get it in the states.
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 5 жыл бұрын
Yep, there is Netflix. lol You can watch Netflix in many countries, but sometimes the shows and stuff vary from country to country. I used to have a Netflix account but it seemed not worth it after lack of good movies. I just gave up. And $12 a month? They raised it from $8??? Dang. I don't mind paying $16 for a movie ticket, because I don't watch movies at the theater often. I only go for the major Marvel movies and that's about it. But now that End Game happened, it'll be a while before I go to the theater again.

You see so much more if you are inconspicuously dressed and don't bring attention to yourself. I subscribe to the rule "blend in and the world is yours". I will be going in for knee surgery in a coupla months so your videos will help me pass the time. You can do the walking for me. NO clowns please! LOL OMG the food shop! Beautiful but I take a pass. Was wondering before you went in to the fruit shop - you knew it would be super expensive. Are most fruit shops in Japan expensive like this or is it because it’s beside a station?
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I knew it was expensive because it's a specialty store specifically for gift fruits. Usually fruits at the supermarket are affordable and most fruit in a shop like this are going to be absurdly priced. But you can still find insanely priced fruit at the supermarket too, usually cantaloupe and mangoes. The location near the station doesn't matter. This shop is actually cheaper than some other gift fruit shops! lol

Ah, hello. Thanks for the various explanations of why people wear face masks. We Brits tend to assume mask wearing is due entirely to industrial smog and pollution but it seems not so. Where we live is mainly an agricultural, farming area with very low smog pollution so it irritates the hell out of the locals to see overseas students wearing face masks.
