Have you ever wondered what a Japanese shopping mall looks like inside? Well, this video will show you exactly that! This is a full walking tour inside of ARIO Mall, located in Kameari, Tokyo!
Come and see the stores, the layout, and the general vibe of a Japanese shopping mall. As stated at the beginning of the video, it's more or less the same as any modern shopping mall that you can find in many countries.
I apologize that I didn't go into many stores and start looking at all kinds of products. This type of tour isn't ideal for that. This tour is more to give you a sense of what the mall looks like and feels like as you walk around it.
In the arcade center, we can see Kankichi Ryotsu, the main character, of the famous manga "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo." (This is the Police Station in Front of Kameari Park in Katsushika Ward) The English manga title is "KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops."
More info about the manga: en.wikipedia.o....

What stood out to me was how neat and organized the toy isles were. Here in America, it’s almost always disorganized and dirty. People have no respect for others and think “just because it’s their job” that they don’t have to clean up after themselves or their kids, but in Japan they are taught at such a young age to pick up after themselves and respect others. I love that.

Yes, I remember going to Toys R Us or even just the toy aisles in Walmart and stuff was just strewn about everywhere and you'd find toys far away in other sections of the store. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

The same here in Germany - always the same boring stores: H&M, Primark, New Yorker or C&A for clothes, Depot or Butler for home decorating, Nanu Nana for cheap stuff, Thalia for books, Hussel for sweets, Game Stop for video games, Intersport for sports wear, dm, Rossmann, Douglas or Müller for cosmetics and perfumes, Media Markt or Saturn for tech stuff, Nordsee, McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks and at least one Döner "restaurant" for food. Booooooooooring. But it's nice to see what malls are offering in other countries.

I lived in kameari for almost 10 years and lived in a mansion just down the street from ario. I went there almost daily to buy groceries and just hang out, get out of the house with my kids. Surprisingly many of the stores are the same but the big buffet in the restaurant area was actually where saizeria is now. Moved away from Japan in late 2016 so this was really cool and natsukashii for me. I could recall where everything was still. Thanks for the video.

Wow, that's cool! Kameari is definitely a nice place to live with great access to Tokyo without being super crowded. Glad you could revisit the mall in this video! As funny as it might sound, Japan is the same when you visit different malls. Same name brand stores in all the same chain shopping malls. But I guess the vibe is a little different. I used to enjoy going to the mall in the U.S. for a short while after I first moved there. Then it got so boring and stale very quickly so I never went, unless I needed clothes. hehehe

Ive travelled to Japan twice already from the Philippines, and I was shocked at the lack of malls in Japan. The train stations is where the real commerce happens. I believe its because Japan has nice, cold weather and there is no incentive for people to congregate in huge concrete structures like malls. In South East Asia where Im from malls are enormous semi-cities because the heat here is unbearable.
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 2 жыл бұрын
Japanese summers are absolutely brutal, especially July - September. So malls, department stores, and other places indoors are full of people trying to escape the 40°+ weather and humidity. But yeah, around trains stations is where most of the shopping is at, for convenience reasons. Plus many of the train line companies are owned by the same companies that have department stores. Thanks for watching!

Are your malls disabled friendly?
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 Жыл бұрын
Yes, malls are usually wheelchair friendly with ramps and elevators. But I can't speak for all malls, since I haven't been to many. But the big big ones, like Lalaport and Tokyo Midtown, those ones are. I think more than it being designed with the disabled in mind, they are designed with baby strollers in mind. I think in the last 4 years, I have seen maybe 3 people in wheelchairs out in public, one of them was a foreigner.
