I watched and loved Spongebob for 15-20 years until i even knew who came up with the shows and characters. Toriyama is indeed the most known to insiders, but not in general. Many people who are into cartoons and know a lot of writers, don't know who Toriyama-sensei and Oda-sensei are.

Akira toriyama really did change the world he inspired so many great authors and influenced anime and manga he’s basically the Stan Lee of Japan without him we wouldn’t have all these amazing series as Naruto or one piece akira started it all he was a legendary story teller my fav works from him are not only dragon ball but also he’s other works like the manga dr slump the dragon quest games and two chrono games dragon quest is a very popular series same as chrono trigger and chrono cross without akira toriyama I doubt those series would be as popular and would be very different he had a very unique style of drawing he’s characters and it was like he made them come to life made the audience feel really connected to he’s characters he will be missed but he’s creation he’s works will live on forever in the form of media games and collections rest in peace akira toriyama 😭
