kid=15872. One of the best in the games played by them. You are going to see Moriuchi's really cool move, along with pretty difficult middlegame lines.

Thanks for providing so many Habu and Oyama games. Definitely two of my favorite players. I'm always amazed by how far Habu can see into a position... he has great intuitive sense as well as excellent calculating ability. And Oyama's ability to defend almost any position is simply amazing. Such a treat to watch.

These games are fascinating, I particularly enjoy watching Oyama and Habu's matches. However, being relatively new to shogi, I sometimes fail to understand why a certain situation is hopeless or why a player deems certain exchanges bad, so I have to pause the video and puzzle over it for quite a while each time. But I suppose you'd simply say it's a good exercise, right?

@ikegare1234: If it's your dream, go for it. Just because you live in the US doesn't mean it's impossible. The Japan Shogi Association will accept foreign pros, it's just never happened before, because it's a long and hard process. You just need to devote yourself to training very hard in shogi.

At the end (~16:30) 银x94 is a successful defence --> there is no checkmate

He's 38. Not so young when he played this game.

I don't think G4h works after +R5h. White can just take it with +Sx4h, and black's king would be still in danger.

Why is it checkmate at 16:25 after *G8c ? I don't see it.

Well the meaning is that this position should lead to a forced mate, not that it is one already. As to why - While I am a much weaker player than Hidetchi, here is what I think is going to happen: after the pieces on the b rank are gone for gote, sente can check on the b rank with the dragon. and since a silver drop on 7d can always force the king back there, should he try to escape, there doesn't seem to be any reasonable drop along the b rank which won't be pinned and it seems like a mate in the lines I am seeing. It's a bit longer than lines I'm used to reading though...

I see. Thank you. I've played multiple scenarios. Would the game proceed like this? 1. G*8c Sx8c 2. Nx8c+ Gx8c 3. +R3b N*8b 4. Sx8c+ Kx8c 5. S*7d Nx7d 6. G*8b K9c 7. +Bx7d S*9d 8. G9b Lx9b 9. +Rx9b Dropping a lance instead of a knight leads to mate since sente can push the 9th file pawn up and threaten with the horse.

1. G8c S8c 2. S8c G8c 3. N8c k8c 4. *S7B k7B 5. PB6c k8B 6. PB7c k9B after easy! for example 7. R4B k9c 8. R8B ×× all clear in 8c after *S7B is important move

낙지빔 If you can find out a reason, let me know. It seems that he vanished without a trace. Maybe his work on 81dojo took over his KZbin channel?
