The Gold to 5h is phenomenal! I bet if Habu would have had more time to think he would've had a better chance of finding that move. Thank you so much for showing how even in a losing game the stakes can be dramatically turned in the opposite direction. My goodness unbelievably ingenious move B-)

I've only caught up with these videos by HIDETCHI recently, but he seems to have stopped uploading any more of those videos about 4 years ago, which is shame. There doesn't seem any other English-based channel like this about Shogi.

Habu should've done Gold F-4 NOT 3-E. It would protect the knight while blocking the king and forcing the kings hand. If white takes w pawn then play lance I-3 checking the king baiting the knight. If he captures it, GOLD H-5. King must capture pawn F-5. THEN pawn drop G-5, King runs to E-4 and SILVER DROP F-5. Use lance discovery check with knight and the Horses range to corner King into checkmate. If King runs to E-2 after the lance check. Gold E-3. Use pawn sacs to coral king or promoted gold into corner. CHECKMATE. If King runs to E-4 after the lance check. Gold sac E-5. pawn captures. Horse captures. CHECKMATE.
