Fan-in is the number of inputs that a logic gate can take, fan-out implies the maximum number of logic gates that can be drive by the output of a logic gate of the same family.

the unit loads may not work, as the fanout is exceeded, current that each unit load may receive will be less than Ioh and current for these unit loads will go to undefined region....
