Great advice. Of course, he’s assuming you have a bit of theory and proficiency under your belt. In order to bring that story to life, you have to be intentional
@chadbennett78733 жыл бұрын
As I writer, I couldn't agree more. I cannot imagine being in total control of my stories ... the characters come to life for me and more often than not, write themselves. I didn't learn this until later in life and struggled to control the story ... going long periods of time without writing or inspiration. Once I gave into the characters, it flowed like water. Tuomas is brilliant on many levels. Humility is the key to life, in my opinion. I think it's a shorter list of great things created by people without humility.

This feels like a universal advice for any kind of creative work. I can attest to it working for designing video games and my friend (an artist-illustrator) follows it for her non-paid work (because otherwise you have a list of requirements to fulfill...).

This was a great video to watch and Tuomas makes a lot of sense. I really like what he says between 6:29 and 7:47. I had to write it down: "These ongoing events, they reveal a lot about human nature. I've seen much more good than I've seen bad. There's this overall sense of community-people coming together. We'll see a lot of altruism, a lot of wanting to help your fellow man. The optimism is still there because this thing is not going to last forever. It's going to go away and I do hope that people will remember this sense of community, taking care of each other also after we have gotten rid of the virus. We have such huge potential as a species. Just a few rotten apples on the top plus the constant fearmongering from the media takes things out of perspective... constantly. If there's something good to be taken out of this situation that we are facing now, it's this: The true angels of our nature."

As for playing with a live orchestra, Tuomas, I have a humble request: Play with an orchestra in London's Wembley Arena -- because it would be a huge thing to have Pips Williams there, not to mention that the London Philharmonic are literally right in the neighborhood! Tuomas seems like such a down to earth guy. He seems so humble and intelligent. Man, I can't wait to meet him one of these days. Definitely a bright mind that has helped all of us Nightwishers. Keep up the good work Tuomas.

What an interesting way of discovering the man behind the scene and the group. There is a lot of humility in his voice and his answers, i like it. Never stop dreaming, never stop learning! Thank you Mr Holopainen.

For the gig with an Orchestra do the same as Metallica, 2 or 3 gigs over a few days in one venue (no pyro) Royal Albert Hall 😉 and no other gigs. record it and release it on all formats.

Tuomas has inspired me creatively, emotionally, and has helped me through the darkest times in my life hell I even think in some ways his music and genius helped keep me alive which is why if and when I have a son I will be naming him after you Tuomas it is the absolute least I can do for someone like you

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and for gaining some insights into Nightwish and its components. Nightwish from the start has largely contributed to inspiration and broadening my perspective of the world around me! Always looking for to the coming projects and revisiting your previous ones. Best wishes to everyone!

Tuomas, you are so sweet and humble, yet you are one of the best composers we have these days. I know you would never admit that. Nature is healing to me. I grabbed some stuff 8 years ago, my dogs and I just started to roam Europe. Eastern Europe, I even lived in Serbia for 2 years in the beautiful mountains with my favorite animal, the bear (brown bears in this case) Holland is overcrowded and somehow I can't deal with that very well. So I understand that you get your inspiration in nature during a nice long hike. Every day I discover new things, the tiniest creatures, new mosses (I am a nature freak) and to be all alone in the real wild, with a river as your bath, a fire as your kitchen...I feel so blessed. The smallest things can make us happy. A shower of golden warm rain just before sunset, a rebellious little flower in the snow that just does not give up, big papa bear treating you with a very exciting visit, with his fluffy big butt, his curious sniffing nose, his beautiful brown eyes....but man oh man, they are so big and special to me. (I photographed a lot of bears in the wild, I know their rules and respect them, because I enjoy life) Thank you for this video, to get to know you a little bit better. Love from Holland.

Still boggles my mind how well spoken Tuomas is in English when it is his second language. Shows just how intelligent he is.

So much of a better interview than journalists....this was so great. Feels so personal.

Charles Fuller this is really good. I know more about the man than any of the pointless interviews that he has had to suffer through.
