Got these with my CSW 2.5 a year or so ago and absolutely love them to pieces. If anything the feedback from the pedals with their attached motors is more critical than that from the wheel itself. Amazing bit of kit. Interesting to see that you didn't go mental adding masses of stiffness to the brake like I've seen a lot of other simmers go for. I left mine pretty much at default and have no bother with them

Something worth mentioning I think. That over center feeling on a clutch pedal is not necessarily directly related to the bite point of the clutch. The over center portion of the spring on a clutch is designed to allow you to hold the clutch in with less Force than it takes to actually disengage the clutch. The bite point can be anywhere in the clutches travel and won't necessarily relate to exactly when the clutch spring goes over center.
@KarlGosling3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know mate, but it's close enough and better than nothing as it's the only physical feedback about clutch position we have.

Agreed, they're still the best pedals for the money atm, try sourcing Fanatec's color anodized pedalplate sets Karl, they're like rocking horse poop to get hold of now, Fanatec has from what I can tell discontinued their pedalplate upgrades as I cannot for the life of me find them on their site, I managed to get a secondhand set (still immaculate) in anodized red, that includes the footplate, they don't half look nice when fitted, better then the typical black or alloy silver.

surprised to see you haven't got the extras on them already, I bought a set of v3s in similar fashion, found them cheap but absolutely miles away, they had the brake upgrade pack and damper already attached on brake pedal, I struggled to press pedal at all by hand, I undone all the addons and set to normal to judge the differences myself. throttle pedal for me was too light and was letting the pedals set down, actually felt comparable to the logitech stuff but had way too much travel for a floor mount setup but that's easy to adjust out, main thing was feeling like fly by wire in modern car, I added the damper to throttle on its weakest setting and adjusted the pedal throw so its not like a van going to the floor, massive difference in feel much more natural feeling with or without shoes ( I race in socks lol ) the brake upgrade kit I ended up with a medium setup, 1 green and 1 red from kit, tension adjuster right out, again this is very very firm but feels like my actual brakes (like they would be at start of the trackday anyway) and hasn't got the throw anywhere near as much so is more pressure based and a bit easier to modulate if you are left foot braking alot, if you're wearing thin socks you'll get the pedal imprints in your foot they can take that much pressure. clutch I also extended the adjustment bar as much as possible to give a little bit more of a smoother transition over its fulcrum point as I had a few jump starts where it caught me off gaurd. love how adjustable the pedals are! love that you can quickly tone the brake force on the fanatec wheel too so if I do jump into dirt rally, I don't have to use the high force I prefer for left foot braking in retro track cars on different sims, can just bring it down and comfortably brake with a simple change realtime without dicking about in menus. the pedals were my first ever venture away from logitech wheels in what's way over 15 years, I was so impressed with the quality and just how natural they felt, I immediately started the hunt for a csl elite wheel, expensive month for sure but offset it all by flogging my multiple logitech wheels I've cheaply collected over the many years, think the upgrade to csl elite with rim and the fully upgraded v3s only cost about £150 after selling all my existing logitech gear while the world was going mad for anything sim related. couldn't be happier and wish I done it so much sooner. out of interest, are you a dirt rally 1 or 2 man? I've spent over 100 hours in dirt rally using vr on steam struggling with vr performance but trooped through it, caved in and bought it again on oculus store and it literally is an entirely different game, literally all low to all ultra settings! my favourite racing game of all time, both logitech and the fanatec feel amazing on it. despite jumping in as early access and patiently waiting for it to be finished, I still can't stand dirt rally 2.0, the ground detail and force feedback is woeful, co driver trying to kill me with his timing sometimes, just feels like a huge let down coming from dirt rally 1, got a total of 7 hours on it and the majority of that is tweaking, I keep going back after all the updates but its just sat taking a huge space up on the SSD, interested to know if you've found same coming from dr1 to 2.
@KarlGosling3 жыл бұрын
TBH mate because I'm really happy with them as they are I haven't felt the need to buy the extra's. I came from DR1.0 and whilst DR2.0 does feel a little different I don't find it too much of a problem and that is what I play mostly now... maybe my driving isn't good enough to notice! lol

Hi Aran I’ve ordered this pedal set I have also ordered the brake performance kit so a couple of question if I may. I was thinking of going medium with the brake kit as I want it firm but not too firm does medium improve the feel from base setup from your experience. Also the accelerator seems very light like you said I’m thinking of starting with the black spring so my question is how do you adjust the accelerator to make it a little firmer you state you added dampener and adjusted the throw how is this done thanks.

Me and a friend just had our load cells failing after 300 and 350 hours, which is kind of scary if you ask me. We couldn’t find anything about the V3s load cell failing on the internet, so we figured we probably just got a bad charge of load cells. Fanatec support has been amazing though, his new load cell arrived 3 days after contacting and mine is on its way. Still, it’s frustrating and not really reassuring to have your 360€ pedals fail that way (in two cases) So if anybody here knows about the problem, please let me know about your experience, cheers

Thanks for doing the review, I am waiting to take the plunge on a CSL DD, F1 wheel and these pedals, I was especially excited about the vibration on the pedals, sad to hear that they are a pain and not really noticeable. I always imagined I would love a motor on the clutch pedal to allow the feeling of bite, maybe they will heed you words and put on some heftier motors on all the pedals in the future. I didn't know there is a cam on the clutch and your method makes a lot of sense so thanks for highlighting it. To wait for the V4s or not, that's the question!

@billwiley72163 жыл бұрын
I have had the Elites with Load cell brake for several years and have just ordered the V3 pedal set. My Elites still work great and no complaints just wanted to try an upgrade as the build quality on the V3 set is much nicer, the loadcell on the V3 is supposed to be a better heavier duty design and the V3 pedals use a hall sensor on the clutch and throttle instead of potentiometer which should be more trouble free and long lasting. I also ordered the brake performance kit at the same time since shipping and handling charges are so high with Fanatec if the kit were ordered separately. I think for the money the V3 pedal set may well offer the best value for the actual dollars spent in a solid mid level pedal set but I am just going by multiple reviews and yet to have them in my possession. I should have them by the middle of the upcoming week.

Hi, Karl. Been watching your videos about racing sim products. The information came in handy. I wanted to ask what is your opinion on the Fanatec Club Sport V3 Inverted pedals. The price difference is rather large compared to the regular set, but they seem way more similar to road car pedals. On their website it says that they are available for pre-order, but looking on KZbin I find videos of them that are years old. Is a new edition coming up?

They look interesting, no pricing on the website though, what do they cost mate?

@@KarlGosling upto date pricing you should be able to find on Facebook last time I checked they would work out to about 300 pounds

I looked these up and they look great but they aren't that cheap. 3 pedals look like 750usd without a base plate so on par with heusinkveld. Do you actually own them and did you pay that little?

I used the v3i’s for about a week (definitely a huge upgrade over Logitech) until I realized that put me very close to Heusinkveld sprint territory (especially when you consider the pedal upgrade kits). So decided to jump, installed them this morning. Haven’t had enough time yet to evaluate, but I definitely like the heusinkvelds thus far.. I have it on the NLR dd stand atm. My v3i brake seemed to have different stiffness (and sound) at different time of the day, or after I moved the stand between rooms.. quite weird. Indeed, no rumble on the sprints. And I was able to feel it relatively well on some Games, I think pcars2, am2, iracing and dirt2. But can’t say it really helped me. Can only say I felt them at times and thought it was “cool”. Considering a 3rd party solution to this, but then again I first have 8020 and motion on my list.. All that said; can’t beat the value for money on the fanatecs ..

Sounds about right to me mate :) Odd though about the different sounds?!
@patrickroza30733 жыл бұрын
@@KarlGosling yea it was some kind of squishy sound. And the pedal would get more mushy.. not sure what it was, or if I was somehow imagining it. The heusinkveld sprints so far are great and consistent though.

I remember my HKS KD Max Pro twin plate clutch. It made an awful squealing / grinding noise when it was on the bite point. Bloody awful! I'm sure Fanatec did a better job 😂

I’d skip the damper kit.

@anticommoncore40653 жыл бұрын
@@mirshia5248 For $80 it's a bit much to pay for so little return. It's useless on the brake pedal, and it doesn't do much for the throttle. Save $50 and just buy the $30 Brake Performance Kit. It will reduce pedal throw/travel, and adds adjustable pedal resistance, to better simulate "muscle memory", for more consistent braking.
