Thanks for this guide. I just picked up a Porsche 918 wheel and the adjustment worked the same on those paddles. Nothing mentioned about it in the manual (box only had a quick guide). Even before any magnet mod it instantly makes it feel much better (stock felt sloppier than my P1 wheel LOL).

Thank you so much for this. I don't even think this is in the Fanatec manual!

Just got your paddle set. They are awesome but really sucks I won’t be able to use the right one 😩. I have zero pre travel on the right side. Soon as you go to pull it clicks. But the left one works perfect haha. Btw you are great my set was stuck in shipping for more then 3 weeks and you helped me out. Both sets came today

Bummer! Check the tiny set screw in the shifter to make sure it hasn't migrated in and causing early activation of the switch inside. The tip of it should be just barely poking out of the aluminum shifter bracket.

@@A60363 ok I’ll check. I never touched it myself. I got the wheel few weeks back. I always thought it was super short throw on that side tho. It like soon as you go to pull at all it clicks and then there a ton of after travel.

Try flipping your paddles so they're higher and farther. They won't hit your thumbs and will give you a ton more room while holding the wheel. (Right paddle becomes left, left becomes right)

Just did this in prep for my wheel base arriving tomorrow! and the tips in the video too, thanks both of you! Way shorter throw and more comfortable.

Excellent video. I just ordered a set of your magnetic paddle sets for the F1 wheel. Can I still do this adjustment with the magnetic paddles installed. Or, is this adjustment even necessary once the magnetic paddles are installed?
@A603633 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg! It's best to do this before you install the magnetic shifters. Once they're on, it's difficult to tell if they're taking the load, or the set screw is (you don't want the magnetic shifters stopping the motion - they're not designed for that load).

Thanks for this. Don’t understand why this isn’t on the manual. My problem is that I don’t have pretty much any pre travel on the left paddle. The right one is great, but any tuning I do on the left one, the sensor is activated and doesnt reset. Is there a way to adjust that? Thanks!

I think you're the third I've heard about this issue (out of a few dozen) . First step is to check that the tiny set screw (1.5mm hex wrench) that activates the switch hasn't migrated (wrench side should be flush with the paddle). If it hasn't, you will either need to shim the tunes version with washers and longer screws, or switch to the flat version. Bummed Fanatec seems to have some inconsistency in their switches/mounting.

@@A60363 thanks for explaining. Any chance of a quick tutorial on how to do it? There is no info anywhere about this, so I don’t really know if I understood exactly what to do. It would be very helpful. Anyway thanks for the reply.

How detrimental would it be to skip this step and install the shifter mod with the out of the box tuning (same wheel)
@A603633 жыл бұрын
I think it'll definitely shorten the life of the parts. I'm sure others have done it, and I haven't had any complaints, but I'd definitely recommend tuning the shifters first - it's a free upgrade!

So you can only set pre travel? Nothing to do about over travel.
@A603633 жыл бұрын
Correct, unless you wanted to drill and tap for another setscrew.

So whats the purpose of this? Sorry im new to this. Yt just recommended me your video

So you'll miss less shifts
@A603633 жыл бұрын
Makes it easier and quicker to shift but eliminating unnecessary movement, and reduces missed shifts/double taps, especially when paired with magnetic shifter mods.
