Metal could you help Oluv with a DAC/Amp for the HD600 / 6xx or harder to drive planars Your stack SGrace balanced + 789 could be also Oluvs reference Would this make sense? Some headphones need a amp at least to open them up. A DAC is not that much money on top. There is already more than enough documentation around the internet that any dullard will find if they weren't too lazy to type the relevant question into a search engine. While I don't agree with all your subjective opinions and impressions, you are one of the most consistent, honest and relatively objective reviewers around. Your approach at sound demos is easily the most insightful around, and the only one that comes anywhere close to something scientific. Bro! You are providing EXTREMELY valuable information. I'd be willing to bet that the headphone designers, engineers and manufactures are watching and listening with notepads in hand.

Mach bitte dringend so weiter! Vielen Dank für deine Arbeit!

I have a pair of HD6xx headphones one one of my two workstations here. I've listened to you HD-58x and HE-4xx video and think it would be difficult to go wrong with either of those. I've also got the DT-770 on my radar. Any Opinions on which of those three might be the nicest for all day listening while working?

Thanks for your reviews and sound demos! Your database will be very useful once all the work gets done. Your in ear recording method is definately more accurate than the EARS which has many flaws. One thing you should do when you go to do all your recordings is to use the same DAC/AMP for all of them for the sake of consistency. Doesnt make a huge difference but that would make it as objective and consistent as possible. Ideally you should try to get a THX 789 and something like the SDAC Balanced to get as neutral of results as possible. Hopefully Massdrop can help you out with that as your sound demos are going to be the next best thing to actually listening to the headphone in person.

Hello sir, i have 2 pairs of headphones as of now. Ath-m50x and hifiman he4xx. I just plug them straight into my phone or computer. I love the sound of my m50x but i don't hear anything special from my he4xx. Everyone online love the hifiman he4xx, am i missing something? Do i need to invest in a dac or amp? I have zero knowledge about them and don't know which dac or amp to pair the he4xx with. If you can give me some guidance that would be my blessing. Thank you so much for reading.

What in ear / binaural mics do you use for those measurements?

The frequency graphs dont describe the character of the sound, which is why im happy that channels like yours present the live sound from the headphones and despite the trillion arguments that say youtube will change the sound and its impossible to know what phones the user is using . The point is that that the character of the sound is evident, so its really useful to experience. Thanks keep up the great work Thank You.

Oluv, I’ve been browsing ebay and found quite a few dummy binaural heads with ears but without microphones. Prices are around $200-500. Would it just work if you get such head and then put the microphones that you’re using for your own ears in this video? P.S: thank you for your videos, they’re great!!

No as they do not have an antropomorphic pinna, those react again completely differently. I can at least demonstrate you exactly the effects I am getting due to position change, lack of seal etc

Hi Olav. I was wondering if there is such a thing as a hi quality bone-conducting microphone, that you could attach behind your ear?, then you could wear the headphones without your ear canals being blocked-up.

The time and effort you invest on giving viewers a full realistic listening experience is extremely valuable and not common among headphone reviewers. I believe this is the best approach to convey how a headphone really sounds. Hope you manage to try the new Dali iO-6. Thanks for your reviews! 👍

Oluv - appreciate the methodology. To me this approach is better than other methods. I could hear the differences between the headphones and I am listening through an ADI-2 DAC + HTX AAA 789 and HiFiman Susvara.

thanks for the video, I like your approach, after all we are here to listen to music and not hear a soliloquy of impressions that are not very useful to understand how it sounds. Especially for people like me who do not have access to less common headphone models.

I'm in the market for my first pair of decent headphones after using gaming headsets or earbuds forever and didn't have much idea of what is meant by 'signature', but this video does a great job of demonstrating that.

As you said yourself, your own ears will give a better result than the artificial ears. You do a great job, and it's actually pretty amazing that no matter what we are listening on at this end we can still hear the differences of the headphones you are testing! Oh and the more I watch the more I need the HiFiman 4xx 😊

I may have to get these. But have you thought about getting your ears, your ear canals, and some of the surrounding area molded and made into a silicone skin and nylon bone replica to have mounted onto the EARS unit? I understand this may throw off the calibration, but it shouldn't be terribly difficult to recalibrate them. This may just yield a better result off of the flawed EARS unit.

Wow fantastic video, i really appreciate the work you are doing to give us a clear example of the different sound signatures of each headphone. Would it help at all if people send you there headphones so you can do more comparisions. I have hd58x, pxc550, audioquest nighthawk carbon, hifiman he-400 and heavly worn he-560. I would be happy to send some to you as long as i can hang on to at least one as i live in headphones.
Listening to headphones over Youtube...? Hahaha!
