Great tips! My husband has all one kind of sock, and I've really simplified mine as well. That is a HUGE game changer. I do need different kinds of socks for different shoes and pants, but I at least have one one sock per type of shoe. No more fun socks, or different brands, etc. So all the same black sock, all the same sweat socks, all the same no show socks. So there is no thinking about what matches up with what. And for towels, I just recently discovered the absolute joy of having all the same towels in all the bathrooms!!! Total game changer. I used to do different colored towels. But then no one else in the house knew where the towels went, or which towels they could grab for themselves. Now every bathroom has the same yellow towels, and the guest towels are the same. No one ever has to ask me which towel belongs where, what they're allowed to use, what they should give to a guest. We can even have fewer towels because we don't actually need 2 towels per person, Just one per person, then a couple extras in case one gets dirty unexpectedly. I do still have a small pile of old towels for clean ups, and as long as they're clean, those can be used after showering in a pinch. Even a beach towel in a pinch. So I've cut towels down probably by half by having all the same color towels :)

For stained kitchen towels, I cut a 1" square out of a corner. That permanently retires them from their original use so they don't make their way back to the kitchen. They go to the rag bin for Hubs to use for nasty or greasy projects. Sometimes they can be washed and returned to the rag bin, but if they are awful he can just toss them with my blessing. This system has worked great and he no longer cleans his tools and grimy sports gear with my crisp white kitchen towels. 10/10 highly recommend.

I got rid of most of my throw pillows. I have 2 on my large couch and none on our love seat. They were/are in the way when someone sits down and usually end up on the floor! I have all my dishes in my cabinets because we entertain frequently, but all the shelves that I cannot reach are EMPTY!! I refuse to just put things up there that I don't use - I just decluttered that stuff. Love your enthusiasm! God bless you and yours!!

Great tips for how to simplify without feeling the loss of things until you have acclimatized yourself to having less. I have done this with my makeup, hair products, clothing and frying pans. I have not missed them and find when I go back to the stored bins I wonder why I kept half the stuff anyway and can declutter them permanently. A nice bridging step for those of us who are afraid we will over declutter.

My partner and I live in a tiny one bedroom house with no storage, so we are forced to keep things to a minimum even though I like to anyway, so I have two pairs of shoes, three small drawers of clothes (no wardrobe) one drawer of utensils in the kitchen and whenever I buy something new I have to get rid of something!

I did declutter my throw pillows. We have had them for over 13 years and they pretty much lost all of their filling. 😅 I trashed them with the thought process that we will get new when we get a new couch. Hopefully soon. I do catch myself at HomeGoods looking at them and looking forward to having them again.

Love you have soo many ideas, so that people can get inspired by at least one of these if not more. Where I live I can imagine every owning three pair of shoes. I need a summer type shoe (sandals or flip flops), a pair of sneakers, a pair of heels/dressy shoes, and a pair of winter boots (but I could switch out my boots and sandals for the season).

Love your videos … but… packing up an entire room is definitely no option for my personal decluttering journey… I live in a small 59 square meters apartment (no attic, no basement, no garage) and I would be completely overwhelmed with having boxes all over my two rooms 🙈🙈🙈…

I use the cleaner recipe from Mellisa Maker, about 12 ounces of water, a 1/2 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and 10 drops of tea tree oil ( natural disinfectant). It smells great. Using a microfiber cloth with this cleanser makes everything clean, even glass and mirrors .

I have minimized over the years that there’s a lot of this that I do. Altho I’ve never packed up a room. But I could definitely go down in the amount of shoes I have and I also have plenty of plates & things in my kitchen. But I also host quite a bit and I love to cook & bake so I do use my stuff 😊 because we live in a smaller house I will go thru our stuff every other month & just see if there’s not things I can get rid of. And I always find things 😊

Make your own all-purpose cleaner. Vinegar, for example, is very good in the bathroom and toilet. Add some dishwashing liquid and some water (possibly a little essential oil) and you have the best all-purpose cleaner you can imagine. Vinegar is also good as a fabric softener and if you bake bread yourself, add a drop of vinegar to the flour. This works as a bread improver. Often used by bakers instead of E300 (vitamin C). Clean tiles with vinegar, your bathtub or your windows. Everything gets clean with vinegar and it kills bacteria better than bleach.

I agree with the mental overload with frames hanging on the wall. I removed half of them and i seem to breathe much better. And i discovered i can't stand black frames. My brain was always focusing on the frames, not the pictures they were displaying.

@pamwood3956 maybe its a blessing that our closet isn't big enough to house all my clothes, so it forces me to change out seasons. We have warm Temps again this week in Arkansas, then cool down next week, so I'll go through my fall/winter clothes. Thankfully what I got rid of I haven't missed at all!!

hmmm. You cannot remove half if they aren't identical. You have taken out half of the colors, I used my dry erase for scheduling and needed more colors, maybe you don't? I also disagree on spatulas and measuring cups, I need my dinner spatula AND the cookie baking one. I need at least 2 measuring cups because there are always wet and dry ingredients, washing it and then drying it and not having it there full of the next thing is not helpful. Same with measuring spoons. I have noticed that my shoes are too much. I have moved farther inland and that has made a huge difference in what I need as far as clothing, it has basically eliminated the 'Spring' section. However this next Spring might be more intense! I'm still less than an hour from the coast and my grandson moved closer to the coast! I actually didn't have enough pie pans for Thanksgiving this year, one had been misplaced and I still haven't put them away. I need to pull out the baking dishes and rethink this so they are where I can find them when I do need them. And the big problem is - I still have mom's stuff on the shelves where she always kept them. Not a ton of stuff - however. :/
