Any movie that starts with Badge and ends with Can't Find My Way Home is a 10!

I have seen this movie 20 times, but I never noticed, "3. A foolish act." His face in the last scene when she walks away.

I tend to disagree. Those who saw it remember it fondly. Not many saw it…. 😕

One of the greatest introductions to a main character in movies. Without this scene allowing us to see behind the good ol' boy bravado being the leader of The Groovers, it would've made Gardner a relentlessly insufferable douchebag 20 mins into the picture. That we know Gardner harbors a wounded heart within a minute of meeting him - something not even the other Groovers know about and have known him much longer - is so brilliant in the way it subliminally endears us to a reckless hedonist like Gardner. As a virtual unknown, Costner inhabits Gardner, nailing the character much in the same way Thomas Jane did as Todd Parker in Boogie Nights. You could bottle the screen charm off each performance. That kind of talent cannot be taught.

Watched this film in college and the ending is sad and scary. Responsibility and accountability are next and the privilege of youth is gone

Before I garner any other praise, I FIRST must extend a 'Nice Grouping!" in regards to Gardner's dart tosses. Life-affirmation film for me! Still crossing fences & females! "To This, To Us and the Privileges of Youth!"

You have to drive through West Texas to really appreciate this film. You can go 80mph for an hour and not see another car.

I know it's set in 1971 and people grew up quicker then, but Costner was too old-looking for this role. Still a good movie.
