You know what I JUST realized after watching JP‘s content for well over a decade? With all the shows (ranging from State of the Game to RollPlay etc.) he‘s done in the past he was (and still is) THE interconnecting hub between content creators. And I really appreciate you JP for still doing it. I think you said in the past that you‘re more comfortable being behind the scenes, managing and doing the producer stuff. I understand that, however it showed when you were in the Alvus Sanctuary that your old State of the Game/ StarCraft commentator / host / interviewer skills are still on fucking point. Same with the Dropped Frames Interviews of people in the gaming industry. I wish you well JP and I sincerely hope you succeed in your future endeavors. From a random internet dude Much love and as always: Thank you for the content JP.

One of my favorite games I’ve ever seen people play on KZbin is “Warhammer or Yourhammer” where you give one real fact from Warhammer lore, and one made up fact, and the other people on the panel have to guess which of the two pieces of info is true. Would love to see y’all play this on the show!

40:54 I disagree that Space Marine was the first true test of the 40K IP in computer game format, that title goes to Dawn of War, which came about 7 years before Space Marine

Dawn of War for sure dragged me into the 40K rabbit hole. After the initial release of the first game, I dove straight into the wikis, reading up the lore. And that was followed up by a bunch of Horus Heresy novels.

What Thatbronzegirl says around the 47 minute mark about the variety of genres contained within the 40k setting and it being an emporium of inspiration for role-playing and/or writing stories that slot into the setting as sub-genres is entirely true. That's a real strength and very rare. I'd like to add that the Fantasy Flight rpg rulesets, published around 2008 to 2014, which were Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Black Crusade, Deathwatch and Only War, cover so much ground in terms of lore and GMing potential. I was blessed to play Dark Heresy (Inquisition rpg) and Rogue Trader (Explorer rpg) for a few years around the table and they were the most imaginative and long-running projects & stories I've been involved with. I'm still writing for pleasure within the 40k setting and I collect, build, convert, and paint miniatures and build terrain pieces, I still read the novels, watch lore vids etc, such is my interest in 40k.

I personally think that the stories of Ciaphus Cain would be the best gateway into the 40K world. It’s the tale of a “normal” man with mortal failings constantly getting stuck into situations above what he can handle. Yet he keeps surviving and succeeding, forcing him to get involved with something even more absurd the next time. A narration of his journal entries for his memories would open up a weekly episode. Combined with his private panic attacks and mental breakdowns, it would let our average viewer grasp just how warped the power balance is in the setting.
@wils3157 күн бұрын
I remember years ago a reddit post saying Ciaphus Cain should be played by Henry Cavil when others see him and Rowan Atkinson when he sees himself. And i loved that idea of visually showing how the imperium saw him as a hero and he saw himself as a man just trying to survive.

I had heard of Warhammer and Warhammer 40K but never really got into it till I picked up the at the time complete collection of Warhammer Dawn of War 1. Instantly fell in love with the Space Marines and Grey Knights. I gave my buddies all the disk and we played hours of it. This led to attempting several PnP Warhammer games and playing many of the other games. I'm even currently reading the first couple of books of the Horus Heresy while playing Chaos Gate. I'm very excited about Space Marines 2. I'm not as big of a fan of Warhammer Fantasy but I still enjoy it. Hell Rogue Trader was one of my favorite games of last year. Warhammer has always been interesting because there is no real good or evil, just multiple shades of grey. Even the "heroes" of the stories usually end up dying tragic fates in an attempt to hold onto their beliefs

I literally googled "warhammer 40k lore" and I found the Raven Rock youtube playlist. It tells the story of the beginning of man to the invention of the Primaris marines. Its part history book and part story book with a great narrator. The genius of it is that it explains/describes things as they come up in the history. That way the listener doesnt get overwhelmed.

I bought 40k models like over 20 years ago and painted some of them. So i didn't really get into warhammer alot. Oddly I'd say playing Total war warhammer games got me really into the lore, with empire chaos, dwarves, elves etc. Then i stared to listen to audiobooks for 40k lore..and that really got me interested. Listening to Eisenhorn, ravenor and Gaunts ghost series really expanded my interest. Then lore from the books made me deepdive specific warhammer subjects. Also lore youtubers are great, mainly Luetin i listen to alot. He's very good at breaking down individual lore of complex subjects in 40k, like Rogue traders, inquistors, space marine chapters, psyker lore..you name it he has a very good video about it. Luetin is the lore goat

Bronze's take on 40k and enthusiasm around 47mins is the truth! But what is this idea about Tau being embarassing? Really weird thing to say. someone has hung out at the wrong forum and/or store. You start with the mini's/army that you like. end of story. Cool shit exist in all the armies, simple as. some armies speak to some people, and other armies to other. Tau is also in the upper half of the armeis when ti comes to popularity, if i got the statistics right. (my first army in 2nd edition was the nids. Before someone goes "we found the tau player ;) ) As for Necrons and Tau, they dropped as their own full armeis in 3rd edition. they aren't new anymore. Necrons got their first book after. Is it an American thing, this Tau hate? Anyway, Speaking of videogames, Dawn of War was arguably the first really good/big 40k game.
