Loved the reunions, especially Arya and Jon and Arya and Gendry. Wasn't a huge fan of the dragon ride and the not so subtle nod to Jon's past relationship with Ygritte, felt like it was just kinda awkwardly placed in the episode to be like "Look! Jon's on a dragon!" "Hey remember how Ygritte and Jon wanted to escape to their cave forever? Weren't they a great couple, don't you think Dany and Jon are too?" Loved Cersei and Euron scenes together, those two are great actors. Didn't love that yet again Tyrion is demoted to being a nothing character. He used to be so dynamic and witty and interesting and he did fuck all last season and fuck all this episode. Wish his reunion with Sansa had been a bit more interesting.

Fan theory: Jaime will be hand of the King/ queen The first scene with Jaime in the show Cersie says "you should be hand" and Jaime says something like "why would I want to do something something so tedious " this is one of the only things that hasn't been called back yet. It reminds me of Jaime saying "give me a quick clean death" when talking about Bran and then he lost he hand. Almost every scene in the first episode has been called back to apart from this.

Sansa did get lucky and did get saved, but almost everyone still alive at this point got lucky and was saved (Jon is the ultimate example of this. Got freaking resurrected AND saved by Benjen, Sansa's knights of the Vale, Dany's dragons and so forth and so on). I do think Sansa is distinguished by having learned and been in the thick of the game of thrones the entire time, and we've seen her apply her knowledge. I think she's also distinguished because surprisingly, she seems to be one of the few key players who doesn't allow emotions to control her decision making/make rash decisions. She's learned what happens when you do. Cersei, Dany, Jon, and even Tyrion have that weakness to varying degrees.
@StormyKid275 жыл бұрын
Amen
@dtatar225 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I believe she could be distinguished, but the last season, when she really learned, the show almost completely abandoned the intrigue aspect, save for the overreaching Littlefinger. So glad watching thrones is back! My two cents: Drogon's shade has got to do with the fact that he knows instinctively that the two (Jon and Danny) are blood related. It makes sense that he would know this since, as you guys mentioned, according to the show only Targaryens can ride dragons. So to me, it's clearly his disapproval of the incest going on.
@nevermore2425 жыл бұрын
@09mrmarshallYou are right enough. But on the one hand, that doesn't mean the dragons were happy about it, or, on the other, that Drogon in particular would have any knowledge of how the Targaryen's dynasty used to behave before he was born. In any case, my god, the detail on that close-up shot of Drogon's face is out of this world :)

I don't understand where all this, "Sansa is so smart," talk is coming from. What brilliant things has she done? Really. She got the vale to save winterfell, nice. She also didn't tell the commander of the army about it, so not so smart. She knew Littlefinger was plotting, obvious. She knew ramsay would kill rickon, again, obvious. She knows cersei is going to betray them all, can't get anymore obvious than that. I would be fine with going on about her smarts if she actually proved herself. To me, she's not the smartest person, everyone else has just been stupid. 🤷🏻♀️

I think Littlefinger was playing her until the part where they were discussing Arya's motives and he brought up the fact that she would become Lady of Winterfell and Sansa knew that wasnt her sister (her reaction to that last bit is much different to the other conclusions Baelish is leading her towards). After that, she went to her brother and he droped all the info on her head. Besides, Arya seemed totally out of the loop until Sansa layed the charges on Baelish, then she just played along. There was no reason for all their private confrontations if they really were playing him the whole time, makes no sense. She is Lady of Winterfell, she doesnt need to scheme to order his execution...

Arya's weapon(s)--For lack of better terminology, it appears the design is meant to be a spear that can come apart to allow Arya to change fighting styles on the fly. In the SCA, we call two weapon fighting "Florentine," style fighting. Most who fight Florentine carry an additional weapon, such as a saber or a dagger, to ensure if one of their primary weapons is lost in the fighting they can keep going. Given that Cyrio, J'aquen, and the Faceless Men are from Bravos, and Bravos seems to be patterned after Renaissance Italy, this all tracks for me. (And if you think about Ezio Auditore the Assassin, he certainly didn't limit himself to two weapons.)

Sansa has survived and learned from multiple hells (Cersei, Jofferey, Lyssa Arryn, Ramsey, and Littlefinger). Plus they're in Winterfell because she had the foresight to have a plan B during the "battle of the bastards" while Jon immediately almost got himself and his whole army killed in one go in an obvious trap. Sansa is pragmatic and is chiefly concerned about Winterfell and her people. So, yeah she has every right to be pissed that Jon seemingly immediately gave up the crown he didn't deserve to begin with to the daughter of the man that brutally murdered her grandfather and uncle among others. Sansa has definitely earned ruling Winterfell and the North and has a right not to trust Dany.

If Sansa thinks that is too big of an error in judgement to overcome, fair, the world would be safer if Dany let Jon die. That should then be the root of her hostility towards Dany.

In the last episode of season 7, it shows Tormund and Berric getting out of the way of the collapsing wall. They simply ran to a part of the wall that wasn't destroyed.

35:44 I think the look between Drogon and Jon was to start building a connection between the two, without Dany. Foreshadowing that Dany will die (maybe Rhaeghal too) and Jon will be the only one who can ride Drogon into the final conflict. 🤔 Also, I dont think Cersei wants Jamie dead, Qyburn may be acting on his own.

First thing, did anyone else notice how eager Reagal was to fly with Jon? Deanerys was already mounted but Reagal was airborne quick Drogon had to catch up. Then flying past Winterfell Reagal turned sideways to show off like "check out who`s got a rider". Then when they dove over that cliff to do that rollercoaster dive for a split second (I paused it) they show Reagals face... he's straight up grinning from ear to ear. Dany`s been riding Drogon for years now and now Reagal finally has his rider. I think we all missed how important to Reagal this actually was, he's finally bonded with a rider. Now, my question is, is Reagal now Jon's dragon? Does Deanerys only really have 1 dragon?

Sansa sent a Child-Lord from Winterfell back up north into Last Hearth (which is very close to the Wall) after finding out the White Walkers had already breached the wall and were marching south. I can't believe I'm saying this... but Team Jon.

Remember Sansa wanted to murder that little Lord previously. Just her way of getting it done without having to swing a sword.

1. ¿Food is not important? Yeah, I heard that famelic soldiers are the best. Also, they have a big number of refugees coming, they are supossed to starve for the dragons? 2. Jon saying Dany is a good queen baffles me. He has actually no proof of that, but he does have proof that Sansa is a wise ruler and he undervalue her. I mean, "loves me us idiots and all that" but that doesn't make me want him as king. 3. Also, he didn't want to be king, but accepted the responsability. Now he acts like he has been forced to be king in the north. He could have refused. 4. And can people stop thinking that Dany wants to break the wheel, when she's been reclaiming for herself the seven kingdoms for years. She is part of that wheel! "She was all about saving slaves" yeah... and no, She said that as an excuse to invade Mereen, Yunkai, Astapor and gain an army. And when she got bored took her army and the benefits of her conquers to Westeros. 5. Jon argument about "titles are not important" fails when his new lover and queen is all about (her thousand) titles. So people has motives to be wary when their new queen's motto is "kneel or refuse and die", even if they know they need her army.

I did think that many people would have made a bigger deal about John riding the dragon. Aside from some looks of wonder or fear as they flew over, it didn't have any impact and that felt like a lost opportunity. And I thought that Drogon looked jealous and protective. I wonder if the dragons carry some of the spirit of the people they're named for. We know that the Night King is coming south after someone specific -- I wonder who. Also, I am intrigued by the idea that the NK will split his army, and head directly south with his dragon, and then turn back north, forcing Jon & Dany to fight on two fronts.

Folks talk about how much Sansa learned from Cersei, but I think she also learned a bunch from observing Tyrion. HE always asked the pragmatic questions, both as Hand and as Master of Coin. And like many, Tyrion underestimated Sansa, so he probably had no idea she was paying attention to anything he was doing.

I’ll echo a lot of other comments that it was way too short, which is made all the more a bummer since there’s only five more to go. Episode 1 has always been a setup episode each season. Unless it’s all going to be buttoned up in one big confrontation we’re going to see the Battle of Winterfell within the next couple of weekend. What I like the most? The procession at the beginning which had a lot of homage to S1E1. Even the same music was used.

I honestly don’t understand why the contradiction in Dany’s plan (breaking the wheel while reclaiming her blood-right throne) is only coming up now. Also, historically, we don’t really have a model for the move *right* from medieval feudalism to direct democracy. Especially not on a continental scale. Constitutional monarchy, anyone?

I think Roth might be right on this Sam theory, though he may rule the Reach from his own house's seat of Horn Hill, rather than Highgarden. I think I could see either happening. That said, part of my theory has always been that the Iron Throne will no longer exist at the end of this show, or that if it does then it will simply serve as a monument. Tyrion has spoken to Daenerys about what to do with the succession, and mentioned the elected leaders of factions like the Night's Watch. Daenerys herself claimed that she didn't want to "stop the wheel", she wanted to break it. I think we end the show with a developing democracy in Westeros, perhaps with a member of each major household from all seven "kingdoms" serving on some sort of council of leadership. With the Tyrells wiped out, Samwell Tarly is well positioned to become the new leader in the Reach. I think the another possibility is us seeing Gendry being legitimised as a Baratheon, and taking his family's old seat at Storm's End as the new Lord/Warden of the Stormlands. I'm not sure what would happen in the show with Dorne, but in the books I could see Arianne Martell taking power there. The Westerlands could easily end up going to either Jaime or Tyrion (depending on if either or both survive), and I can see Asha (or Yara for TV folk) ruling the Iron Islands. After that, it gets more confusing. I'm unsure who would inherit Winterfell. Jon wouldn't really have a claim to it now. If Arya & Gendry become a thing, maybe she'd move with him to the Stormlands. Sansa seems well-positioned to become Lady of Winterfell, but I wouldn't be totally shocked to see her return to the Vale to rule there. I think Bran has very little interest in ruling anything. Perhaps Daenerys would consider ruling the Crownlands from Dragonstone.

What the heck is the deal with Bran blurting out about Viseryn and they've broken through the wall and then what? Jon and Dany go for a dragon ride? Where is Danny's grief? Where is Jon getting ready because the dead are marching? That was total BS. Totally took me right out of the story. And that Dragon ride was ridiculous, and oh I want to slap Daenerys upside the head

One of my favourite things about Screen Junkies was how scrappy and familiar its presentation felt, whereas "Fandom entertainment" is a name that says "please remember that you are watching a subsidiary of a multi-channel content distribution company". I'm not sure how I'm gonna feel the next time that the SJ News (RIP name?) crew talks about their mixed feelings on the various vertical integration and company takeover stories going on in Hollywood. Just a couple(?) weeks ago there was a discussion in which they understandably bemoaned the loss of the Fox 2000 as both a studio *and* a label, and I can't really imagine that discussion could take place the same way if it happened today.
