@@mickhasthefacts8632According to IMDB, these guys range from 5’5” to 5’7”, so yeah, they’re not tall. Average male height (globally) is 5’9”. Worked out well for the film though, because their height relative to the 6’1” John Rhys-Davies was proportionally correct for hobbits vs. dwarves, meaning scaled-up sets/props and the various tricks used to scale them down relative to human/elf/orc characters worked across the board.

20 years later, and they’re still so much like their characters. Dom and Billy are jokesters, and obviously besties; Sean is very true to the story and passionate about it, like Sam was about ‘songs and tales’. And Elijah is somewhat quiet, but speaks when he has something profound and meaningful to say (apart from the swearing! 😂). I think these characters have embodied them so much, they’ve become a part of their lives. And to some fans like me, I can relate as a viewer.

Billy and Dominic seem to be pretty close friends, but otherwise I don’t think any other combination of the four are that close. If you watch the extra’s of the trilogy, the sheer amount of respect and passion and loyalty to Tolkien is undoubtably pure and real. More distrust in governments, corporations, and even the whole drive to consume, expand, growth. Still lots of beauty in the world and in people and it is worth for fighting for!

I agree. To me it shows that the love and duty that Sam has for Frodo is more powerful than the powers of the Ring.
@blueskybelyr

I think it's important for Sam to be even partially tempted, because it shows the function of Frodo. Sam's job was to emotionally and physically support Frodo, and Frodo's job was to harbour the ring without succumbing to it. They're very much dependent on each other. If Sam was totally resistant, why couldn't he just take it to the volcano himself? (I would ask myself, lmao)

I'm usually not a big fan of many movies, never mind movie stars, but my wife and I have loved Lord of the Rings from the beginning and have seen each movie several times. The story and characters are so wonderous and inspiring. Then to top it off, there's these guys, the actors themselves. What a wonderful group of guys. Great stuff.

Read the books when I was 10 in 1959. Have read then again and again over the years. Have copies of the extended editions which I watch at least once a year. These four young men are lovely and their friendship is what LOTR is all about. Imagine what a Guillermo del Toro directed version would be.

My mother loved the books. She would have loved the movies, but sadly she was not alive to see and enjoy them. When i watch them, every couple years, i always think how much she would have loved what you all did to make those stories and those characters come alive. The wonderful work you all did will live, as long as the film exists.

Man did anyone else feel a kind of tension between Sean and the other 3? I can't put my finger on it, it felt like there was some unspoken problem between them all. Elijah, Billy and Dom all seemed fine with each other though. Maybe I'm crazy.
