I still feel that Linda is in a class all her own... she made all her photos feel more like art. Exquisite and timeless and joyful. No one has left quite the same impression on the modeling industry.

Yes. Unlike her peers who were attached to a niche (Cindy being the All-American Bombshell, Christy being the Elegant Classic Beauty, Naomi being the Runway Queen and Diva, and Claudia being the Barbie and Blonde Bombshell), Linda was the Chameleon, because she simply did not have that one iconic look that made her Linda Evangelista. She was so versatile, and could transform into the character woman that every photographer and fashion designer envisioned. She was the ultimate canvass. So many people in the fashion industry have said how Linda was the best of the best. Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld, John Casablancas, Tim Blanks, Victoria Beckham, Amber Valletta, Karen Elson, Paulina Porizkova, Andre Leon Talley, Steven Miesel, etc. It's surprising yet humbling to see she doesn't see that in herself. She is the GOAT.

Dear Frederick: I agree with you absolutely. "Evangelista," "la Linda,"was always #1 among equals. It seemed your relationship with la Linda determined your standing in the fashion world of girl models. No one came close to her talents. Linda was the class, all by herself. The smartest person in the room doesn't have to try to be smart, they just are. Princess Diana just was. It never seemed to me that Linda Evangelista was trying to be Top Dog, she just was.

@@lissandrafreljord7913 You make me tear up. SHE doesn't see herself as the "best and the brightest," but we all knew who our Valedictorian was, it was not up for discussion, there was no contest. Linda Evangelista came on and the crowd was transfixed. She owned the room.

Many models of the 80's and 90's made their mark, but Linda surpasses them all. She was the prima donna assoluta of the runway in her time, in the very best sense of the word. What an honor it is to have lived during her reign.

So much nostalgia and melancholy on that stage. Today you can literally see and feel that fashion is just a cadaver now that Gen-z is dragging in the dirt! Kardashianas, Neoptism, Followers and Social Media have nothing to do with what they have experienced. I am old enough to remember fashion when it was relevant! Such glorious times

Yeah, Linda is simply in a class of her own. That said, I feel like the only model who could rival Linda's catalog was Tatjana Patitz. While she wasn't as experimental and chameleonic as Linda, by trying different hair colors, Tatjana had one of the most expressive eyes. She could easily manipulate them to express an array of emotions that touched your soul. Whether sadness, pain, anger, disillusionment, joy, mistrust, lust, etc. She had this magnetic intensity about her gaze that could easily put anyone under a spell of hypnosis. So sad she left us too soon. I wished she could've published a book with all the work she did with Peter Lindbergh and Herb Ritts. Those two photographers really knew how to capture her beauty in the best light. RIP Tatjana, RIP Peter, RIP Herb.

Her parents are from Pignataro Interamna, which is a town in Lazio (Central Italian region) near the border to Campania (Southern Italian region). I guess culturally, that town must be closer to Southern Italy. A lot of people said Linda looked like Sophia Loren, who coincidentally was born in Rome (Central Italy), but grew up in Naples (Southern Italy). Gina Lollobrigida was born in Lazio too. Central/Southern Italian beauties.

Thank you for this clip!!! An absolute joy for us super fans 👌 Linda and Tim have a long history of doing interviews (including an incredibly glam moment backstage at Chanel (?) with red hair in 1991) and Linda's openness and playfulness here is a testament to their history. Thank you Tim for discussing the work and using specific examples. It offers an insight into the creative process between Linda and Steven that no one else has bothered with. Very surprised to learn that the changing hair colors and styles weren't planned or calculated to create a stir. I love her even more if that's possible. And as another commenter wrote, no one else could pull off so many radically different transformations. That's why she's supreme.

For all the young people who missed the Super Model era of the 80s and 90s it really was great fun. Tim Blanks show The Fashion File was the best of the fashion media shows and some of the greatest segments were with Canada's very own Linda Evangelista. She brought a special quality to her job and turned it into art. I met her in 1992 when she came to Toronto for a Flare Magazine event. I can't believe it has been that long ago. I hope Linda continues to model and feels the good vibes we send her way.

What her first photo with Steven made me realize is that she really didn't need the hair changes, to stand out, it's all in the bone structure, in the eyes, in the gums, I guess. It's not like she was "hiding behind" the long hair, because nothing can really upstage cheekbones like those, she could have a bridal veil over her face

Linda's turtle neck is to conceal the folds of skin on her neck. As for cosmetic tone choice her bumpy facial skin would be as side effect of that fat freezing procedure that went horribly wrong. As her interviewer in this clip quoted to her 'when you were a model!' I found this comment insulting too her! Linda 'is' a model and an icon supermodel from the 80's/90's and today she is also a role model. I commend Linda for telling her story, for not hiding herself away (why should she!), for she worked hard to maintain her career path. Her photos are stunning and she has every right to be proud of herself today. I never was a 'fan' of individual supermodels but I can recall them all...even Gia who many forget.
