This was the classic example of the cartoon that tried too hard. Ruby and Spears first attempt on their own, so they borrow the Scooby-Doo formula (already used by their former employer HB more times than should have been allowed) and create a character who had so many "quirks", all of which had to be explained every time they came up that it made the show very hard to follow ("Every time Fangface sees food or hears a food word, he tries to eat Puggsley", etc.).
@traeyboy5297 жыл бұрын
This is actually a Ruby-Spears Enterprises show.

"FANGFACE"! Every four-hundred years a baby werewolf is born into The Fangsworth Family. And so when the moon shined on little Sherman Fangsworth, he changed into, "FANGFACE"! The Werewolf! Only the sun can change him back to normal! And so little Fangs grew up and teamed up with three daring teenagers, Kim, Biff, and Pugsley! And together they find danger, excitement, and adventure. Who can save the day? Who can wrong the rights, and right the wrongs? None other than, "FANGFACE"!

change the description. Hanna-Barbera did not MAKE the show, Ruby-Spears did. Whether they own it now is irrelevant, they did not create it.

Cheap Scooby ripoff from Joe Ruby and Ken Spears who also used to write for Hanna-Barbera, including all the original 1969 Scooby eps, as well as the Banana Splits, Josie and the Pussycats, Dynomutt, and Jabberjaw (all of which holds up WAY better than this no-brainer piece of crap).

I'd Still Totally Would've Like To See FangFace And His Friends Solving Mysteries With The Scooby Gang On The New Scooby-Doo Movies
Fangface is a Ruby-Spears (RS) Production, which was then a division of Filmways (more famous for giving us *The Beverly Hillbillies* on CBS-TV way back then), and distibuted by Warner Brothers Animation.

Fangface isn't actually a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. It was the first cartoon from Ruby-Spears Productions. Joe Ruby ad Ken Spears had previously worked for Hanna-Barbera and created Scooby-Doo, hence the (overly strong) resemblance.

WB is offically ruling that the Ruby Spears shows are basically a part of the H&B library, and let's be honest Ruby Spear's majors shows are on the same level, if you put the H&B logo on Fangface or Thundarr, how many people would even question it, as they basically just made a sister studo

If you thought that this was the classic example of a Saturday Morning cartoon that tried to hard to please...then if you thought FANGFACE was the worst...check out another failed entry that Joe Ruby and Ken Spears produced for Hanna-Barbera JABBERJAW that also ran on ABC's Saturday Mornings.

THE WORST OF THE SCOOBY CLONES.....FANGFACE....the first ever animated series from Ruby-Spears Productions for ABC-TV's Saturday Morning Schedule from 1978-1979. After this Ruby-Spears Productions would go on to do "Plasticman", "Thundarr The Barbarian", "Mister T",and their remake of "Alvin and the Chipmunks"

The WORST of the Scooby Doo clones....Cheesy and cheap Scooby rip-off from Joe Ruby and Ken Spears who were writers for several Hanna-Barbera cartoons,among them "Scooby Doo,Where Are You?", "Josie and the Pussycats",not to mention "Help! It's The Hair Bear Bunch" just to name a few. After the failure that was FANGFACE,the team of Joe Ruby and Ken Spears,under there own production company Ruby-Spears production went on to created one of the greatest action packed cartoons of the 80's THUNDARR!
@Astraldragon18 жыл бұрын
+rayssonation I disagree I don't concider Fangface a failure.. it was a good cartoon I enjoyed it... Thundarr was Great.
