This is their stunning masterpiece from the 1975 main course album, with Barry Robins and Maurice perfect high pitched falsetto harmonies and amazing blended in 16 audio tracks😱perfectly mixed by Karl Richardson & Legendary Arif Mardin. As Barry told their instrumentally most complex and a beast of harmony song, but it is for sure one of their best jewels and praised in two interviews as the best RnB ballad they ever heard from Paul McCartney & the Goat Michael Jacksons producer Quincy Jones 🍾

Quincy Jones is considered one of the greatest music producers ever, if not the greatest, and there's not even an argument about who the greatest producer of R&B/Soul/Funk was, that was Quincy Jones by a country mile. Why am I telling you this? Because this is Quincy Jones favorite R&B record he ever heard, that was his assessment of this song, and he didn't produce it, the Bee Gees produced their own music for the most part. But this is Quincy Jones all-time favorite R&B record.

Mo said that this song is mostly sung by Robin & Barry singing together. He said they have 5 or six voices to choose from , each individual, Barry and Robin together or Barry and Mo together, then all together on the harmonies. Many songs it is Barry & Robin singing to get her then Mo comes in on the harmonies. Just magical.

Wow, I had never even heard this song before. What is most notable to me is that they do perform some of their harmonies but they drop in and out of those harmonies and take turns singing the lead. They also go in and out of falsetto. I'm no singer but I'm guessing tha is difficult to do. They pulled it off brilliantly. Thanks for reacting to this. Take care.

The first piece where your daughter was stunned by the lower part, was Robin. Mom thank you for sharing about how different but how their voices beautifully blended. Even they remarked in an interview that when one sang it was good, two together was great but all three have insane harmony. I’d recommend the daughter listen to the music they produced before they were heavy into falsetto. Massachusetts To Love Somebody just to name a few. This is STILL my favorite Bee Gees song, released in 1975 from their fantastic R&B-influenced "Main Course" album. I will never understand why this didn't hit the top stop on the Billboard Hot 100, but... whatever. Yes, another 45 (7" single) that I pretty much wore out on the turntable. Anyway, I do appreciate the two of you reacting to this song... it is such a great song. I do recommend one other reaction to a song from the same album... "Nights On Broadway." A live performance of the song is shown on "The Midnight Special"... the video is available here on KZbin. If you decide to watch it, be sure to NOT pick the one that says HD quality or remastered audio, or whatever, because that is the one where someone just put the studio version of the song audio on top of the live video. Instead, you want to hear the REAL live vocals... as the brothers really do a fantastic live performance on this. Just pick the one that says Nights on Broadway on the Midnight Special. If the video opens with The Midnight Special logo, and has an introduction by Natalie Cole, then you've got the right one. Again, it is a fantastic performance... you will love it.

@@generationgapreacts How CAN You Mend a Broken Heart was their make-up song after an 18 month break-up of the band in 1969-70 because of ego, teenage angst and jealousy-- what the brothers referred to as the pitfalls of first fame. They were so young! . They "kissed and made up" and re-formed never to break up again because they really loved one another and missed working together. They wrote this song along with Lonely Days- another make-up song reflecting their feelings when they were estranged. BOTH were #1 hits for them!! Way to re-establish the band!! The first song where they used the Falsetto was Nights On Broadway from the same album as Fanny. But it is on Fanny they really play around with in the end.

I actually repeat the lyrics to my wife when I'm hurt. The delicacy of Barry's lyrics are just beautifully harmonized by the brothers. Love this one!

I believe this song was about a girl whom the all the brothers knew when they were very young, her name was fanny.

The one in the middle put out the best on this song. But many mistook the other ones as being that voice.

Hi people it's John from England I just want to say well the Bee Gees a definitely in my top 5 groups it's just amazing considering they sort of started off in 1967 and then you know they went a bit quiet in the early 70s they came back by the end of the 70s they had massive hits as we all know a truly amazing group of musicians
