I neglected to talk about this while scripting the video. I am not going to be including 01 Studio in the competition because of the style of the Constructicons they are producing. The design is more comparable to an MP 1.0 style, much in the spirit of Green Giant, Constructor, Hercules, etc. It is a very greebled design with a lot of complex detail absent in the modern MP and 3P designs emulating the G1 cartoon aesthetic. Because of this, I will not be including them in the competition.

From what I’ve seen, FansToys is doing something no one else is doing and that’s being animation accurate.

So far I am liking XTB set the best. FT probably won't be finished before half of us are dead. 01-Studio will be interesting if they are making Devy. I already went in on the Long Haul by XTB to see how it is. I have never had a good looking Long Haul so it will be exciting when it gets here.

Well sounds like a noble Idea! Like you said Vectron Lab ...is a Joke! They've been showing pics for like 2 years now every tfcon of like 1 prototype. Fanstoys..they haven't completed 1 combiner since they started. It's been what? Maybe 3 years now since they started the Stunticons set and the ArielBots. Not to mention there all releasing at different times. Meaning while we have the xtb LongHaul, we don't know if any these other companies will be releasing that same figure. So the review process will be like a 2 year project, and to be honest imo the only company that may finish this set would be mmc and xtb, and I'll be shocked if they both finish this year. I would love for it to happen! Just subed!

I usually listen to and watch other reviewers going over figures I don't want to buy so that I can compare them and decide which figure I'd buy. However, it often gets tiring hearing people yelling at each other about how X company is too expensive or Y company has poor build quality, so I decided that I'm going to make my own comparison with every bot from these sets to decide who is making the best Devastator.

Despite them having smaller combiners, I must applaud MMC for being able to pull off All-in-One engineering. I am really looking forward to collecting this set as my first Masterpiece set from MMC.

It's not even a question to me: FansToys is the most solid. XTB sometimes feels more toony and MMC get the articulation and quality right but lack in finish IMO. I think FT is worth their price. XTB, MMC, Star Toy is worth 50-60% of FT price IMO.

FansToys has the best product 90% of the time. That’s including 1st party. If you can live to see the final product, FT will likely be the best.

Seeing as how i already have an excellent MP scale Devy from Toyworld XTB gets my money as I'm only looking for the 6 individual bots

I admire people who are holding on to their Hercules or Green Giant or otherwise while these new sets are being released. I suppose few peoples' minds will be changed until the full combiners are out, but they just look far too removed from the modern aesthetic for me to be interested. I'm sure their built well, but the looks are really what kills my interest in the older sets.

@leoalpha7 to me, Constructor fits the bill for a Devastator. He's big, imposing, and with the newer version has a more cartoon accurate head looks great. I don't need my figures to be ultra toon accurate, most MP figures aren't, but I do like them to be basically toon accurate. Extra "realistic" details don't bother me as long as the basic look is correct. I mean, hell, the original cartoon wasn't accurate to itself half the time

I'm buying all three as well. I think XTB will actually have the best Devastator. I'm getting MMC as it's going to be different. FT I don't know but, I have Scrapper on pre-order but, I'm concerned if they'll even finish it and if they do, how's long will it take.

I understand your hesitation with the completion of FansToys' Devastator, but I believe they will complete it in a more reasonable time given they have more of an incentive with two competitors releasing at the same time. I may be a little naive given I only recently purchased the FansToys Aerialbots, but I believe they will all be released on a more reasonable time schedule.

For me it’s most likely going to be between FT and XTB for robot mode and combined. I can see already the compromises from mmc because of the all in one ( which I personally don’t care about ) and the combined mode won’t work for me since I am going for zeta/toy world scale. But i really can’t deicide between ft and xtb right now, so far I am liking the xtb bot modes especially big load but they have a history of qc issue. But I find fanstoys scrapper to be lacking, I will need to wait and see the other fanstoys renders before deciding.

I agree. I think FT has really dropped the ball on both robot mode and vehicle mode so far, but I think their combined mode might be really good (albeit based on a horrible track record). XTB is the one I have the highest confidence in, but I wanted to collect all 3 sets since I think they could all turn out really well.

Which 3rd party Bruticus would you recommend? Where’s the best place to buy?

Personally, I have not purchased or considered purchasing any 3rd party Bruticus figures. I do not think any of them properly fit in my collection. However, if you are really itching to get one, Zeta makes a Bruticus that is in scale with the other major combiners. Mastermind Creations may be better, but it is shorter because of the all-in-one engineering. As of writing this, you can get Zeta Bruticon at BBTS and MMC Assaultus at Planet Steel Express. Hope that helps!

That's why xtb punked them with their longhaul coming out first (after announcing scrapper first) . Which is a pretty great figure after the last few xtb releases. Not much on die-cast so maybe they learned from menasor.
