Aquarium fantail goldfish care and tank setup. Tank mates should be other fancy goldfish. Their water temperature is nothing above 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Fantail goldfish grow to around 5-8” long. Their aquarium size should be a 20 gallon aquarium at minimum.

I was sold a 14litre tank with two fantail goldfish about a year ago, I have since got a few more tanks and realised that that tank is way too tiny for the two goldfish. This video was very helpful as I am buying a new tank this week for them :)

Thank you for the quick video. My daughter asked me to take over care for her fantail after leaving it in someone else's care 2 months prior. It came to me in a taco bell cup and everything in the tank was velvety green. 3 weeks later after your help in this video I have a great relationship with my water grandfish. Scheduled, water changes cue 99% of issues. I added-Erasable marker on tank to record daily temp, food type(changes daily), record water changes,other day info, etc. I am now getting my first Axie. My 5 fancy goldfish in a 60g tank fill my aquaclear 110 very fast, Literally. so I made an above tank filters,very ugly, but I change the cotton every 3 or 4 days,plus I added more bio media. So easy. Still every week water change. I stopped using the canister as it is way too heavy for me.Been over a year and they are still growing. Thanks for all you do I learn a lot. Thank you-

I could not resist when I saw a 30 gallon cube tank for sale, and I’m thinking that a couple lovely long finned fantail goldfish would be perfect in it. My fancy goldfish live with my tetras, with the black background all the fish pop. Tetras can easily be kept at 24 degrees as can goldfish. I also have a bristlenose plecostomus in there, they all get on fine and have done for over a year

Bought one! I was going for a koi, but it looks so much prettierrrr!!! Like omg❤️❤️ besides last year I set up a patio pond and many people told me it's going to do pretty good in this environment. Judging from Bucephalus behaviour, I think we are super cool. Pretty and kinda funny fish❤️

We have 2 fantail goldfish in a 45 gallon tank and about a week ago, we added 6 mollies (1 male and 5 females) thinking they would be fine with goldfish. Before buying the mollies we asked the fish shop if they were compatible with goldfish and they said it was fine. However, after a few days we noticed that the mollies especially the male was very aggressive and was at times nipping and chasing the goldfish. After almost 5 days together, we noticed the goldfish started getting red streaks on their fantails. We immediately removed all the mollies to another tank and did a 20% water change in the goldfish tank. We did this 20% water change for the last 3 days, and have now started adding API brand Melafix. It’s been 2 days now since we started adding Melafix daily. It seems the red streaks maybe subsiding ( hard to tell at the moment) but am wondering if you can comment on whether we are on the right track with treatment. Been checking amonia, nitrite and nitrate levels which are all normal, water temperature is about 70 degrees F.. Would greatly Appreciate any advice you can offer. Many thanks, Jeff

Oh my gosh a couple years ago I bought a wine barrel to use his accountant and thought I would put some fish in it, so I bought some regular goldfish some fancy goldfish and a catfish. All the other fish died in the fancy goldfish lived! I kep it outside, only cleaned it once a year, and probably fed way too much! Weird

I keep my 4 fancy goldfish with my YoYo Loaches and if you do more research you can see that goldfish can thrive in warmer waters, maybe not anything above 78, but 74-76 won’t hurt them at all, just speeds up metabolism! Also love the facebook group, just thought I’d put my ten cents in this vid

Sorry, but you're sort of wrong on fantails being cold water, they are not cold water nor tropical, Fantails are temperate water fish and prefer temperatures between 61°F to 77°F. Unlike the single-tailed varieties, fantail goldfish do not tolerate cold temperatures well, and a heater should be added to a pond in harsh winter.

I keep one fantsil with 7 other goldfish (common, shubunkin, comet), some dojo loaches and a couple reticulate hillstream loaches. They all get along great and it’s been this way for well over a year. The fantail is always one of the first to get food

Darth Entity sometimes plecos can suck the slime coat off if they aren’t fed algae wafers, but if you feed your pleco they should be fine with them
