Fantastic meet up!! BNSF intermodal & autorack trains in Lemont, IL!!!

Standing on top of the parking deck in downtown Lemont give a great view of the landscape to the north and northeast of town. You can see westbound trains appear from the northeast and head east about a mile before snaking south and then west past the parking deck. Trains coming from the west are more difficult to see and hear due to the traffic coming off the State St Bridge to the left of the camera.

I work for BNSF and one of the guys that was in my hiring class was on that intermodal train. That mainline is actually part of the Chillicothe subdivision . I've been on the 171 ( a CSX handoff on the IHB in Summit,il and we take it to LPC in Elwood it's the Q-NWHLAC when we take over) the past few days this week. If i'm not mistaken that autorack train was headed to the IHB in Blue Island,il. You have some great content, continue to railfan safely and you may catch me on the main one of these days!!

I live up the hill in Lemont , and I love trains . I actually used to work as a carman apprentice at Burlington Northern in Cicero , so this video brought back a lot of memories . It was really cool to watch ! Thank you !

Thanks!! I appreciate it!!! It surprised me because when you look to the left off of this parking structure, you can’t see down the tracks because the bridge blocks the view and you can’t hear it coming until it’s pretty much right there. It was a pleasant surprise for me.

Wonderful setups and train action. But maybe get better video equipment. movement is jerky.

It’s not the equipment. I was holding the camera and I have arthritic knees. When they really start to ache, like they were that day, I tend to shift from one leg to the other to take some pressure off them. That’s why it was moving a little bit. I just got a new camera with a tripod so that will be making its debut when the weather gets a little warmer.
