In this video, we'll take a look at some of my favorite photos of Jimmy Page's incredible Country Estate on Sonning-on-Thames. The house was designed by legendary architect Edwin Lutyens. The gardens were designed by legendary horticulturalist Gertrude Jekyll.
0:06: 🏰 Musician Jimmy Page's historic home, Deanery Garden, showcases his appreciation for living in beautiful works of art created by architects.
2:43: 🏰 The Deanery Garden, also known as the Deanery, was purchased in the 1890s by Sir Edward Burges Hudson, the founder of Country Life Magazine, to promote the charm of rural living and the British Countryside.
5:26: 🏰 Plumpton Place is an Elizabethan manor house in Plumpton, East Sussex, England, with a rich history of ownership changes.
8:30: 🏠 This video showcases the interior and exterior of a house.
14:11: 🌸 The video showcases the beautiful Deanery Garden, a private residence with an orchard, water garden, and stunning views.

I had the privilege to meet and spend time with Jimmy in 1984. He was and is my favorite guitarist of all time. He was a true gentleman to me and I’ll never forget it 👍

I went to a party at Plumpton House and spent the night hanging out with Jimmy, Peter Grant and other legends of the time. More than 40 years ago now but unforgettable. The house was stunning. Having an agricultural college next door probably didn't sit well with a person as private as him.

I used to go to Jimmys house in Sussex - Plumpton Place when I was a kid as my dad was an antique dealer in Lewes and became friends with him. Beautiful place. George Harrison originally wanted to buy it but the woman that owned it didn't want to sell it to a rocker, only then to sell it to Page.

THANK YOU for the tour of Deanery Gardens. What an incredible place! Imagine spending the evenings in the hall, near that grand fireplace🔥, listening to Led Zeppelin🤘, of course. And I bet the natural light coming in those windows 🪟 of the hall in the morning is magical. Wouldn't it be lovely to have white wisteria flowers (or any color really) along the top of the pergola? I would love to take afternoon strolls under that pergola on a summer day! What an ideal setting.....and it's located just OVER THE HILLS AND (not so) FAR AWAY from London. There are several places in Southern England I would love to visit someday.....including the white cliffs of Dover, London, Stonehenge, Corfe Castle (which has ties to both sides of my family), Southampton, and Plymouth.....among other places. I wonder what the kitchen looks like in the home now.....and if there have been any upgrades to the home at all since Jimmy bought it? I do hope that Jimmy is giving those gardens a WHOLE LOTTA LOVE. ❤

I am really enjoying these videos..I've been a huge Jimmy Page fan for 40+ years now and his homes have always held a certain fascination for me. The Deanery blows me away with its expanse and beauty. It's breathtaking! The sounds of nature once that door opened to the outside - beautiful! I miss his Plumpton Place home. Not sure I've ever seen the interiors of that one in photos. But the gardens were truly beautiful.

So much character in the house and gardens and on a liveable scale. Incidentally I think George and Amal Clooney also have a house in Sonning ( on an island in the Thames)

Central Heating? probably zero. Maintenance costs? a lot more more than £400,000 annually, which has recently ballooned due to cost-of-living and fuel increases. If you don't do this, the mould starts, the mice take refuge, and the roof starts caving in. After you finally left, a place like this would fall into the category of "seemed like a good idea at the time"
