The Principal of this campaign reminds me of a campaign I ran titled "The wizard did it" where a level 40 wizard arcanist(pathfinder) was the main quest giver whose goal was to figure out all 20,000 effects of chaos weapons (there was some old pdf's and one of then dissapeared but the v2 of 10,000 random effects is still around) in order to become a being beyond a God. I explained him as essentially some who regularly converses with Neutral or Good God's and regularly takes down their nemesis latest plot while chastising them for just wasting their divinity. All the gods *hate* him, but ultimately owe him for doing their work for them, despite the blatant disrepsect. The campaign ended with the party causing an arcane magical blown fuze permanently disabling arcane magic across their universe, leaving him a level 40 commoner and half the PCs who weren't martial classes and divine casters as muggles essentially. [Two players *simultaneously* using wish items of the highest magical tiers to be "as powerful as The Wizard"] As for how he ended up let's just say, 36< Int is a useful tool for even the lowest of mortals, though maybe not enough to solve any problem. He got to be a Wizard of Oz type being in another plane, relying on magic items rather than any spell-casting, cause none of the gods wanted him to ever show back up in his own home plane again. The price of being a showboating adventurer who puts gods to shame as a practical joke.
